PLANNING PERMISSION ISSUED Warren Farm deal signed with Ealing Council … QUEENS Park Rangers Football Club is delighted to announce a development agreement for Warren Farm has been signed with Ealing Council, meaning planning permission for the club’s new training complex can now be issued. Under the development agreement, QPR will build a new multi-purpose community sports complex and elite training facility, which will provide a base for the club’s first team and academy, as well as give local people access to high-quality community and sports facilities. QPR Chairman Tony Fernandes said: “We are committed to building the club in the right way and putting in place the foundations for future success. “The academy is an important part of this, and this agreement is the next step in strengthening the long term prospects of QPR. “We are delighted to partner Ealing Council and are particularly excited about playing our part in providing fantastic new sporting facilities for local residents, and to build on the excellent work of our Community Trust to strengthen our ties with the community and provide opportunities for all.” The club’s new training complex will bring together the academy with the first team. It will provide state-of-the-art- facilities where our young players can develop, and represents important progress for the club’s long-term ambitions. The improvements to the site will also include enhanced football and cricket pitches, a new artificial turf pitch and multi-games areas suitable for sports such as netball and tennis. There will be a new changing block and facilities catering for disabled users, as well as bookable community space in the new clubhouse. Access to the site will also be improved, making it safer for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. A Community Sports Development Programme (CSDP) has also been drawn up as part of the agreement, which will see QPR offer a range of sports programmes for local people, as well as other opportunities to take part in community activities. The CSDP focuses on encouraging local people, particularly young women, older people and people with disabilities, to get involved in sport. Councillor Julian Bell, leader of Ealing Council, said: “Warren Farm is in dire need of redevelopment, so it is fantastic that QPR has committed to such a huge investment into the site. “Signing this deal is the next step towards bringing Warren Farm back into use and transforming it into a thriving hub of community activity and sport. “QPR’s plans have a strong focus on community involvement and I’m looking forward to seeing it all come together.” The club aims to bring the new facilities into use in 2016.
I am sure there are many of us who can remember cold wintry games periods there. The wind used to howl especially on the cross country field it is fantastic that we are the catalysts regenerating this long abandoned piece of land to benefit ourselves and the local community alike. Very proud of the way our little club is moving forward.
Id love to know if this makes any difference as to if they can still proceed with a judicial review. But anyway, up yours NIMBYs!
I feel sorry for the protesters. Where are their dogs going to **** now? They might even have to pick it up in a bag and bin it now.
I would imagine it runs alongside Flyer but the further it goes down the road the harder it is to stop so hopefully good news.
They have to find some idiot prepared to fund it. Last time we discussed, I think they were trying to persuade someone with no money to apply for legal aid. Ridiculous if they get legal aid. I am presuming that the cost of Warren Farm and the new stadium would be rather helpful in terms of FFP??
I know the academy doesnt count against FFP so that means it would be really important to bring through young players. Look what Saints have done, Walcott, Bale, that other winger who went to Arsenal, that £20m LB they have now. Stadium is also massive too although we could fiddle FFP if we wanted as TF sponsors us through Air Asia, we could have Mittals investment funnelled in as naming rights for the stadium by paying 2 or 3 times the usual amount, same goes for shirt sponsorship.
That is the business side of the game and who better to trust than TF, Amit and Mittal in those circumstances?!
I have full trust in the business side but its the football side Im worried about. I was saying yesterday we havent got a proper football man in charge which is why weve been done with 2 awful overpaid managers under TF. Theyve far exceeded my expectation off the pitch but are not where they should be on the pitch.
Although good news the planning permission was always going to be granted. The NIMBY's have got the cash together for a judicial review. That cash will run out eventually and they are unlikely to be successful but you never know. They will succeed in slowing the process further though, and that seems to be their main goal as stopping it is unlikely.
Ground and the training ground are separate projects. Timing for new stadium is very ambitious as well and to a large extent out of our control with the spending on the general infrastructure needed
Brilliant news - another step that will see QPR transformed. This and the stadium point to a very bright future. I presume now that planning has been approved, and signed by Ealing Council that is the end to the protests?
This link only mentions teeny amounts. is that true? Does anyone know? http://www.justice.gov.uk/downloads/courts/administrative-court/applying-for-judicial-review.pdf
They don't want to put their own money in it because the know its a lost clause. Thats why they were begging for legal aid which has been clamped down on, they will lose alot of money even if they win.
