Just a question, how come your moderators don't have "Moderator" under their username?

I agree. I didn't go on their board as I had no reason to but I can imagine some of the comments. Still we move on.

On topic.......I thought we did comfortably enough yesterday to deserve the 3 points. I actually thought after Hulls previous result (which was incredible for a newly promoted team) that this would be more of a test but it really was the sort of post-xmas game where both teams looked very leggy and quality was lacking somewhat.

Thought Lucas had a much better game yesterday and helped us keep a grip on the midfield much better than our previous two games. Coutinho too was a joy to watch at times and his Maradona dribble deserved a goal <ok> Credit to the back four for keeping a clean sheet (much needed after the last few games) but not exactly the toughest test they will have all season.

All in all a much needed 3 points and nice to go into the FA Cup games with a boost to confidence <ok>

Billy as saint said - draw a line and move on. It's a pity that some fans won't/can't engage in a little banter and some good discussion. I always think back to last season's discussions with the Mackems and Cannaries when all was good!

I was a tad surprised mainly because I'm pretty sure there's never been a massive rivallry between Liverpool and Hull ffs......anyway I'm more than happy with the 3 points mate. Thought yesterday could have been a potential banana skin so glad we are now showing that, even when we aren't at our best (and with major players out) we can grind out results.

Aye, won 2-0, but had Hendo and Ford taken their chances in the first half, it would have been a "more" comfortable 4 or 5-0 victory, still, we won, kept a clean sheet, Gerrard's back, Sturridge not far from a return either, played all the top 8 teams apart from ManU away from home already.
A decent Jan window and a top four push is still very much on this year.
I like the fact that we've dropped back a bit in the title race, hopefully will allow us to go about doing our work on the quite and sneak up on the top 3 (still think title is between Chavs and Citeh).

We shared the same concerns about the Hull match then. For me, as the game wore on, it appeared that we could only give the game away - they couldn't take it from us. We did just have too much on the pitch - even though it was apparen that they were tired and some players appeared to be carrying knocks.

I do think that we need a couple of players this window - if for no other reason than to make the squad feel better about themselves. I saw nothing from our top 4 opponents that leads me to believe that we cannot stay in the mix. So for now the target is to be there or there abouts (within striking distance) at Easter.

It's going to be an interesting window....really hope we don't panic buy (no need for us to) and personally I'd prefer just one or two signings of quality...statement of the bleeding obvious <laugh>

It's never nice losing two games in a row but at least we could take positives from both games. I have to give Rodgers credit for his work so far this season. Even the best teams can lose tight games (especially having played 12 men in both games) but how often in the past have we seen those results have a knock on effect into the next game or two. BR really does seem to be able to get them to forget what's gone before and focus on the task on the day. Really is a vital trait to have if you want to build a team rather than just a collection of individuals.

Yeah it would have been easy to lose confidence and given our own injury problems plus playing a team in decent form this is exactly the sort of game we've come unstuck in over recent years. I have to say it's been a joy to watch us at home this year. Not always perfect football but we are playing with the kind of exuberance that comes from a good combination of youth, experience and a soupson of genius :) Let's hope we can keep it up because it's football that's got me smiling again.

The logic that 'Suarez isn't a nice bloke so deserves what he gets' is so backward it's unbelievable.

Do you also believe that prisoners deserve to be tortured by their guards?

Do you believe that war criminals don't deserve a fair trial?

Let's really consider that logic, because it doesn't stand up. It's playground justice - infantile and partisan. It doesn't apply in the real world.

Did your mother never tell you that two wrongs don't make a right?

I doubt either Rodgers or the players thought they played badly against either citeh or the chavs. They were good for at least one point in both games, so won't have been demotivated.

I wasn't really worried about not winning the game. That isn't arrogance or complacency, it's just enthusiasm. I know that anything can happen and we can lose any game, but I always go into a game optimistically. Even before the City and Chelsea games I was thinking "we can win this".

    And we could have.

    We just didn't.

And that is absolutely the point, and what I was trying to say to Polly yesterday. I sort of don't blame the Bruces, Allardyces and Pullises for their approach and trying to kick/goad star players out of the game. In all honesty, I pissed myself laughing when Ronaldo got hurt, and the reaction of Nani a few seasons back when Carragher caught him was hysterical. But the ref, especially one standing a few yards from the incident like yesterday and Eto's challenge on Henderson, have to apply the law as the see it and regardless of the reputation of the player on the receiving end.

I hope one day if a top player is put out of the game that they, or their insurers, sue the FA on the grounds that their appointed referees do not apply a duty of care by administering the laws of the game based on each individual incident as it happens, as opposed to taking into account the reputation (deservedly or not) of the player and/or the home fans and their manager. The saying that justice is blind doesn't mean the officials have to be.

I thought that we did see bruce send his players out to focus on suarez.. but so did mourinho...

i also thought if hull were there all day and night they'd not have scored.. they were poor up front but they did really work hard and give their all.. we were bad too early on... thought we were a wrung out rag.

coutinho needs to actually look at goal and aim once in a while and maybe stop being so obvious in his intent too.
