not a match thread, just an individual question. Did he do anything of quality or was it all endeavour? My opinion is that he did far better than earlier in the season where he never touched the ball but i got no sense of quality or a moment that suggested he was good enough. Good effort, closing down etc... sterling did more for me even though he missed two good chances again
Unless he gets a decent run of games we won't know for sure, however I doubt he'll get a chance once Sturridge gets back, and if the signings we are "expected" to get do come, then he'll be even further down the pecking order.
rather see Ibe than him. get rid as too old for a loan, wouldn't be worth it. Ass is coming along though, he may make it, not sure on Borini yet.
Didn't get the basics right which is even more worrying. Was better in the second without doing anything worth noting. Jury is well and truly out, needs a run of games but right now he's not up to standard and he's down in the pecking order.
Today, Aspas did his future at LFC no good at all. Still appears not to be at the races when it comes to the pace of our game. Even though he must have been training with the rest of the team for some time appeared not to know the kind of run they would make of the type of passes to give or receive. Appeared to have little ball control. On today's performance alone I would get rid!
Surely the jury's been out since we bought him and he came into the squad and first team. For me he's had ample opportunity to show what he's about and he's nowhere near good enough, he's supposed to be an attacking player yet he creates nothing, doesn't score. Been very patient with him and always supported him but I think he's gash now. Get rid.
Another problem for him is that other players in a similar boat around him are starting to improve and define their role in the team. As Foredeck said he looks clueless and lost. And those out on loan are slowly but steadily getting better.
I'm not sure whether he just hasn't settled yet or if he really is just ****e but I suspect it's the latter. He doesn't seem to suit the league or the style of football and as a guy who would at best be a bench player he doesn't offer anything even as an impact sub. No pace, can't pass, far too lightweight, can't shoot straight, hardly a good combination.. As an added problem he hasn't even got age on his side. Can't knock the lads workrate but he really hasn't impressed at all.
Assaidi improving is win-win. He gets up to speed in this league, gets his form and confidence up and we may have a decent player. If we don't take him back, his current good form, if continued, means we should be able to cash in on him come the end of the season.
The same being said for Aspas was said for Assaidi not long ago. He's slowly getting to grips with the PL now. Some foreigners just take longer to get up to pace. Are we really writing him off because he's had a poor 60mins in one of his few opportunities and even fewer starts?
Could have had a nice assist to his name if hendo didn't miss that sitter, he looked like a desperate man today which was evident with the pulling and scrapping with defenders on set pieces - didn't think he was that bad but he didn't do anything great either.
This^ more or less. Felt sorry for the guy because everything he tried went wrong. He is willing, he tries hard and for that reason I'm prepared to give him more chances in games where we ought to be too strong for the opposition and his performance isn't the difference between success and failure (easier said than done, I know) I think it's a good point that we were saying the same about Assman and he does seem to be finally getting to grips with the PL a bit.
Send him on loan to Swansea (if they want him..) they play some great football, similar to us, if he can bed in there and start to perform week in week out then we could have a valuable (squad) player for next year. However this all depends if we get players in this Jan.
Can't see him every being more than simply a bench-warmer. Unfortunate for the lad, but I think it might be time to get rid. At 26 he doesn't have age on his side either really...
Yeah but at least with Assaidi you could see a tiny bit of potential just in the fact he's got a bit of pace and he will run at players. Aspas has literally nothing about his game/style that suits Prem football and even less that suits being a sub. He may well develop those attributes if BR thinks he's got it in him but so far he obviously has no faith in him at all. 60 mins at shop window time tells you all you need to know about how highly BR rates him right now (as does the loan signing of Moses a month after buying him). Personally if we are going to be patient and develop a player I'd much rather we were doing it with one of the youth players and sell Aspas to fund other areas.
