Ha. Got to confess, I can't hear you from here. Just had new double glazing fitted though, so that could explain it Mourinho's comments were ridiculous, cos he didn't dive when he was fouled by Eto'o. Stonewall pen, that. However, he doesn't help things when he's constantly complaining to the ref; yes, he does it when he's been fouled, but he also does it when a hard but fair challenge comes in. We have a couple in our team who do it a bit, in Brady and Elmohamady, and I don't like that either.
okay Polly, just answer this honestly and I won't ask again. Had Bruce not already been booked and that wrap-around, chest-high kick had been judged on its own merits, do you not think it was worth a yellow card? And if it was worth a first yellow card (you're not arguing it wasn't, are you?) then why was it not worth a second? That said, I'm not going with the general flow that you were thugs - we'll end up sounding like Wenger, all precious and pompous, and the more we whinge, the more other sides WILL try and kick us.
Probably the worst team we've face this season, came to get a draw and were uninspiring to say the least. Played well, could see we were tired and resting key players for a week will do us well.
I'm gonna do a Wenger meself here and say I can't remember the exact detail of it. You could have a point, but we can all pick out incidents from games. I could point to the fact, in the return fixture at the KC, Brady and Davies were both quite rightly given yellow cards for fouls, yet one from Steven Gerrard that was no more or less severe went unpunished. Swings and roundabouts mate. I think the bit you said next was more pertinent....
How can you say we came for a draw? We bossed the first 20 minutes and the only reason we went onto the backfoot was because you got into your stride, upped the tempo and got the first goal. Bruce even put three attacking substitutes on together! Unbelievable!
You were playing a 5-4-1 formation. You only started attacking and pushing forward when you were 2-0 down and had nothing to lose.
To suggest that Gerrard was poor or the reason we didn't score in the last half hour is ridiculous to me. He actually provided some stability I felt we had lost for a brief spell. Moses was the perpetrator of most poor decisions for me though he got not too much time. Gerrard had some great passes and wasn't entirely mobile (finally tracking back). I do think we need to slowly phase him out but he's the best we have for now. It's a matter of changing how the team plays around him. He isn't a millstone or a donkey. He is great at controlling the game no matter where he is (when things go well for us). A strong CM of a top class is needed, a German type midfielder that is strong and commanding. Henderson is good running about like a dynamo around the pitch wherever he is needed, and Lucas plays very well (not afraid to go against the popular opinion at the moment) when he is behind two strong midfielders and Coutinho. Sturridge coming back should be a boost but a better option than Aspas is needed as backup. Also I felt that Suarez aside, Hull weren't too bad in the second half in terms of fouling. We can't complain about that. I totally agree with Donga - we'll end up sounding like utter twatfishes and m(o)ngs. The physical game is a result of need for points for survival and teams like Hull (who are doing commendably recently) have to resort to that sometimes. It's a tactic and it works. Most of the time they aren't dirty. Weren't particularly awful today either. Referees need to sit down and realize that they can't afford to let reputations get in the way of fair officiating though - fouls on Suarez are fouls. End of.
I do agree that there seems to be an involuntary upward motion of his arm every time he loses the ball for whatever reason and that's not a great trait. However, I was complaining more about the way refs let the rough treatment go than the fact that it happens. I stand by that, but I'm not looking to carry on an argument all night. Good luck for the rest of the season, and kick a few City and Chelsea players about for us when you play them next.
Give yer head a shake mate. Formations mean jackshit; it's the way you play that matters. Don't you remember the first 15 or 20 minutes? We had more possession and territory and absolutely took the game to you, as far as we were able, given the inferior talent at our disposal. Then you got to grips with it and punished us. It's ridiculous - and a bit demeaning - to say we came for the draw.
Hull were very solid and you can see why they have a good defensive record. Didn't create much today though, never looked like they would get into the game. Coutinho and couple others were unlucky to not make it 3/4 nil.
If you took the game to us for thre first 20 mins can you then explain how your side only managed 2 off-target in the whole first half. Lad you have a really strange way of understanding football! You sure as hell didn't come for a win. It wasn't until you were 2-0 down and running out of time that you started to push men forward.
When you play with 5 defenders and 4 central midfielders its quite obvious what your team is doing. They aren't being picked to play total football and attack the opposition team. Playing for a draw against a team that has 8 wins out of 9 at home is sensible. Defending is your strength as a team, and you came here playing to your strengths, nothing wrong with that. Its not demeaning at all to say so. We also had 79% possession after 10 minutes according to the stats on my stream, so I think you're looking at that first 15/20 mins through Hull tinted glasses.
Not going to defend it, but do you feel we are in some way collectively responsible for the actions of anyone who call themselves Liverpool supporters?
Because we don't have the quality to make the most of the territory and possession that we win. It's not rocket science, "lad"!
Sadly this thread has been derailed and will now descend into a "your fans are bigger scum than ours" spat. Never mind. See ya
