The boy Bendtner has scored some crucial goals for us over the years. Has a knack for it, and could be an excellent option to have from the bench going into the second half of the season.
Considering we've played with literally one above average striker for most of this season, with a **** load of injuries, we've over achieved to be top. Chelsea have 3 strikers and have only just scored away from home with one of them after a year. City have spent load and they are still 2nd to us in the league. I'm not overlooking our deficiencies but we've done pretty well considering the circumstances.
Agreed that Flamini and Arteta together doesn't get the desired result, but to suggest Ozil or Cazorla as a deep lyin gplayer is a bit far fetched. Ramsey, Wilshere or Rosicky are the best partners for one of them. I still think we need a new striker. Podolski has not had enough time there to be able to make a decision. Giroud went 8 games without a goal and people were still saying he is our best option but Pod doesn't get a goal in an hour and is getting written off by some people. Theo made a very good case for playing as a CF, but I wonder if the team can make the change in style of play and tactics in a few days for a quick CF after months/years playing with a slow player who holds the ball up.
Hes certainly made a case for it with a goal today and some good link up play, but Im not convinced he can do it every week for 90 minutes. I think we need a new striker bringing in during the transfer window.
We are too delicate and not agressive enough in the penalty box. It looked like we try to avoid contact rather to look for it. When our passing game does not click, especially at home, we need to be more agressive in the box throw more bodies there and at least try to provoke a penalty. Just look at Suarez - he runs at defenders and they know - if they not give him any space they may well end up with a foul. So he mixes his game in the bjx brilliantly. Most our players are trying the same tiki-taka game in the box, even when the bus is parked there. That's the only thing that irritated me today a bit.
No, Giroud is the better player and offers more overall. But as SJW has pointed out Bendtner has scored some important goals for us over the years, I remember him popping up to head the winner in the NLD not so long ago. He's never been a bad player, but I think his reputation suffered because of his claim that he was the 'best striker' rubbish and then his desire to leave the club. But overall, he's always been a decent enough player for us and it looks like he'll come in handy for the rest of the season now.
Cup game is a difficult one, don't want to lose to spurs and give them confidence but I really don't care about the cups this season
I think this was the poorest we have played. I know Cardiff defended stoutly, we however did ourselves no favours. I do not know why we were so poor today. I think the players approached the game thinking Cardiff were just going to lie down whilst we strolled to victory. I left dead on 10mins, so not seen the goals..... The key thing is we won, there will be harder challenges ahead, so hopefully we will buck up. Incidetslly the stadium was very flat, we probably expected a fiesta.
Id rather focus on a domestic double. We are pretty much out of the CL league and even if by some miracle we get past Munich, we are not strong enough to go all the way. If we can do a domestic double id be more than happy.
spurs are no threat at all , whereas i dont wanna see the scum win .ever.....let alone build up any momentum .
That's not a good thing to do, always stay till the last minute! I don't get what the rush is, to catch the train? Everytime I walk to Finsbury Park, there's no major hassle to get a train or even a seat. If you're walking to Arsenal station then yeah, but just walk 10 more mins and u get the train no problem.
I wouldn't mind us just winning the FA cup, just as long as we win something, we need to instill a winning mentality to this group of players.
The Arsenal station can be carnage at full time, that's why people leave early. I don't go to late kick offs so its never an issue for me
this is precisely the problem , its not so much a lack of creativity , its the SAME all the time and the defenders KNOW theres a 90 per cent chance that the guy in front of them is NOT gonna try and go past him , just hold him up till he passes . There is no diversity of attack , its the same every game . They can defend against us so well because the KNOW what we are going to do .
You couldn't make it up. Webb always manages to ref Man Utd's big games, and at home too. Spurs will be playing against 12 men this evening.
