WTF is going on! I switch on final score.... All results are going our way, a draw at Chelsea, Arsenal and a loss at Everton on the cards. All of a sudden all goes to shet.

I'm switching off before Everton win there game....

Funny game this, a decent win but something of a reality check. We're now a side more than capable of beating the likes of Hull (in a scrappy get the job done game like this) with minimal drama and in with a great shout of top 4 but as the last two matches showed we're still just that bit short of the top top sides, and although mathematically title contenders, don't have the squad depth/strength and clinical finishing to actually be up there.

Well done Liverpool. Had a bit too much class for us in the end today. Encouraged by our lads' approach though; accusations of bus parking proved unfounded! We'll **** Sperz, I reckon!

    All the best.

I think we are almost back to where we were under Rafa to be honest. I'm just happy to see a recovery :). A little more luck and we may of had something from both the City and Chelsea game too! I think we can get 75 points this season.

Yep. With City big bucks on the scene though, we won't have that classic top 4 again unfortunately. It's our job to keep United out of it!

Yes, though had our finishing been better... Luckily for us, Huddlestone blew hot and cold today, and your forwards were pants. Glad we don't have to play you again and you will knock a few more top teams over before the end of the season.

A win is always nice and Hull were awkward (being polite there) to say the least.

    Roll on the FA Cup

Thought Cissokho was .... , well actually, bloody good today. Luis needs a rest, Hendo was good, Lucas did a sound job, Agger and Skrtel looked a lot more comfortable than I thought they'd be, Stirling was constantly on the go (but oh, that first touch sometimes) and Johnson has obviously been carrying an injury.

Three really, really important points today in the grand scheme of things, wait and see.

Edit: Coutinho - what a ****ing gorgeous footballer. doesn't always come off, but his vision and passing is Beardsley-like at times.

Really wanted him to score today. Bless him. That would have been a cracking goal if he scored after that run.

Only caught the last 15 mins but from what I gather, it started very poorly and we slowly grew into the game. More importantly, we scored at the right times to relieve pressure on ourselves.

Today was all about the result and not the performance, and I am glad we managed to get through this one. There does seem to be signs that we're struggling physically in addition to the injuries sustained.

Cissokho is a good player - I think some of his 'poor performances' have been largely exaggerated with the exception of 45 mins against Arsenal.

Shame that Arsenal managed to get the win, and despite scoring a late penalty, Everton dropped 2 points..

We have a nice January in terms of fixtures so hopefully we can make up so ground. The only concern is that Chelsea and Man City are starting to look a lot better now ...

Keep in the top 4 and it may help attract targets <ok>

EDIT: Agree on Coutinho - special talent. Hope he can improve his composure in front of goal though, as I feel this is hampering is decision making - he seems so desperate to score that he's less likely to make the right pass. It's good as it shows his confidence though.

Cissokho has shown more talent than say Aspas who has been here the same length of time and Allen who has had much longer. Think he just needs more confidence and game time and he'll turn out to be a good buy.

Webb is reffing the utd-spuds game. I wonder how many penaltys he'll give the mancs?

Agreed - he's had a tough time at Valencia but was top class for Porto and Lyon and has won a league title. His time at LFC started off poorly due to injury so it's not been easy for him.

Is he the long term solution? I'm not sure - I think Rodgers wants the typical Spanish type left back - clever in possession, movement etc.

I thought Cissokho was **** again today. Not that he did anything horrible, but doesn't really add much. We were shaky again in the 2nd half, could have been in trouble if we didn't get that 2nd. Aspas had a few nice lay-offs but sadly looks too off-the-pace for PL football. Looked less fluid when Gerrard came on. Couts needs to work on his shooting.
    Pessimist post over.
