The CTWD campaign have done such a good job getting the press onside. Well done everyone involved with the planning and execution of the campaign. As people have said, it's upto the FA now but the CTWD organisation has made it harder for the FA to nod through Mr Allam's wrong-headed scheme.
The campaign is being noted round the world, my friend in Germany knows all about it for example. I'm almost certain the name won't be changed by the FA, fingers crossed Mr Allam is sensible about that when it happens.
Ah....but will our brown-noses? Our nod-it-throughs? Our 'I don't care so much, I'll be attacking the antis at every opportunity I get' types?
Tut tut Stanners. We can't lose. Honestly. 1. FA reject name change request, we stay as Hull City. Our reaction is "oh, ok then, whatever" and we carry on, same team, same name. I'll admit I'll be worried at this point for our long term success, whilst hoping someone has a cunning plan up their sleeve, but that's nowt new. 2. FA approve name change. Our reaction is "oh ok then, whatever", we carry on supporting the same team, new name and worry about our long term success whilst hoping Dr Allam's got a cunning plan up his sleeve. I know this will probably inflame some of our inbred CI cousins, but its the truth. New Name, old name, doesn't matter to us, the only people who stand to lose anything are the anti's, because if the name changes, after they've had their internet nerdrages, they'll be desperate for someone to argue with, and pretend they're going to support York, or Scunny or Leeds. They will be quite lonely. 2nd Week in Feb I believe? Either way, I'm looking forward to it. 6 weeks of more hilarity from the anti's.
Spot on happy. As a " not that bothered " either way I will be happy.. I don't know any pro name changers ....don't think they exist.... It's those who don't want to have a name change v those who don't mind either way .
The guy who cut my hair last monday shocked me by saying its a good thing , but more leaned towards its Allams right to change the clubs name . He seemed pretty knowledgeable on football but he IS a Hairdresser n not a barber Also i have two cousins and an uncle long time season pass holders who have been in various action groups over the years - they all surprised me with their non plussed stance - i really was expecting they was at the vanguard of the CTWD movement .
"Humberside" After all of the successful campaigning and lobbying of the past to get the name changed the Daily Mirror still calls the area Humberside! I find that sort of amusing. I wonder if someone will email the paper to get it corrected?
Good article, and hopefully the FA will make the right decision and reject the name change. Whether you are for or against the name change, what really sticks in my throat, is that according to the fan group that met with AA, he said no decision would be made until proof was given that the change would financial benefit the club. Giving the impression that some form of consultantcy company would be used to back up his idea, and be put before the fans. It turns out that the person that will make that decision is himself, which is like say, if a man and women's marriage on the rocks, and the man suggests they should go to counselling to help sort it out, only to tell his wife that he will be the counsellor.
Thats a good sensible and logical article. I think the reference to Humberside was used in the same context as they would say Merseyside, Tyneside or Clyde side not in an ignorant way.
You really are ridiculous. As has been said countless times where is his sensible business plan that will convince us as well as the Press that changing the name is bound to bring in more money. Allam has been ridiculed by everyone in the media because of this crazy plan and the way he has conducted himself.
We are a city on the banks of the Humber they are a city on the banks of the Tyne. Humberside as an area name wasn't wanted I agree but as a reference to where we are it is quite acceptable.
Nonsense like that has been blown to bits too many times for me to see it as anything but a ****, ignorant wind up.
You think he should share his business plan with you? That's not very deluded...nor is it good business sense when you're attempting something new, for the first time. Ridiculed by EVERYONE in the press? Nice generalisation. Utter bollocks too. Suarez gets ridiculed in the press, so does Mourinho, as does Beckham in some areas, along with countless other successful people. Who cares? Bottom line is, regardless of what happens, me and those with similar views will still have the same team to support, and no amount of whining about it online will affect it. In 6 weeks time we'll know one way or the other, and at that time, a result either way won't affect what, why, how or who I support.
