David praises players, despite late Mackems goal

For the first 35 to 40 minutes we blew Sunderland away."
    David Kerslake

Cardiff City's Assistant Manager David Kerslake spoke of his disappointment in conceding an injury time equaliser to Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.

The Bluebirds had dominated large spells of the contest, though fell to two late Mackems goals at Cardiff City Stadium.

“The players are devastated in there after conceding so late on in the game – so are the staff,” said David following the final whistle.

“We got ourselves into a fabulous position and with the quality we have we expected to see the game out.

“For the first 35 to 40 minutes we blew Sunderland away. Credit to them though, Gus changed their shape and they kept the ball much better.

“The disappointing thing for us was that we were 2-0 up and although we were under the cosh, we should have kept the ball better than we did. It was still 2-0 with eight minutes to go and we conceded a poor goal. It's something we will look at – there's work to be done.”

But as for the positives, the former Tottenham and Leeds midfielder commented: “We scored two really good goals - Fraizer's back on the score-sheet as well which is pleasing. I thought in particular the first half was exceptional, but we should have carried that on in the second.

“This is a wonderful group of players. Every one of them wholehearted, with a great togetherness playing at a fantastic place where the support is second to none.

“We go to Arsenal on New Year's Day with a belief and confidence. We held our own against them here a few weeks back. We know that they are one of the finer sides in Europe but we had a good go at them here.

"We go to the Emirates in good spirits. It does feel like two points dropped today because of the position we were in, but it's another point gained in the grand scheme of things. We haven't dropped into the bottom three all season and we're making a good fist of it.”

Lovely sentiments but short on honesty. POSITIVES are something you look for to justify mistakes.

Despite the blurb, we DID drop (throw away!) two points through following conventional thinking and not having the players to guarantee seeing it home.

Someone new at the helm needs to start thinking outside the box in these situations. There are other ways to attempt to secure the advantage you've gained in the first hour other than inviting the other side on to you and hanging on for dear life.

Like I said before, it was like Malky had got back into the dugout in the last 20 minutes.
If it ain't broke don't fix it applies, if you're 2-0 up surely you're the team with momentum to press forward, we offered nothing in the last 20 except to let them attack as much as they liked, could have ended up losing it if anything.
    Needs sorting out.

He has stated on a number of occasions that he does not want to go into management, he prefers coaching

Anyone would think Kerslake would be offered the job which I am certain that would not be the case.

The problem we have here is Tan will have no idea how unpopular Ince would be here but somehow he was suggested by those advising Tan as a second choice to OGS.

If I was offered the job I would come here see who the fans wanted me to play and do that then blame them for any bad results.

Are you really serious or just taking the piss? I can't believe you have any idea about the game if you are advocating such a stupid stance.

Before you start saying everyone is entitled to an opinion, I agree, but then everyone else is entitled to reply to it.

Some obviously think you are aften talking out of your arse on here, and with that sort of statement, I expect the numbers with that opinion will grow.

Sparkey...with a lot of animosity in some posts sometimes we need to add a slight touch of humour too or one or two might start taking it all too seriously.

I know for a fact when we saw the team sheet for the Sunderland game that is what we have all been screaming out for and when we saw the substitutions that was the last thing we all wanted to see.

How you read my post completely wrong i have no idea because I was saying fans here do not need to know much about football to know the team we need to select.

As far as blaming then if we lost that was so obviously a joke the last thing I expected was to have to explain it.

You're clearly too clever for the rest of us poor posters.

I'm surprised you're now saying the fans on here do not need to know much about football to know the team to select - it seems so easy.

Sparkey are you saying fans on here could not select the right team?

I think from what i have seen everyone here could do that and it is simple.

What is complicated about selecting the team from our squad?

Of course fans on here could select the right team, but it would only be the "right team" if it got the result it set out to achieve

OK, so pick your starting 11 for the game today as opposed to the one Kerslake has put out and we'll see at 5 O'clock with the added advantage of hindsight.

I'm not defending the "Malky approach" in all the games, just some where we could have achieved a better result by being more positive - again with the benefit of hindsight.

I think we're singing from the same hymnsheet, so no dispute there, just the fact that you seem to think it's so easy and anyone could do it.

Dafuqs everyone's beef with Jck?! Even mods laying into him for no reason now <doh>

Shame as we are finally on the cusp of some positive news

You're meant to diffuse rows not instigate them

Well put it this way Noone and Kim will not be sitting on the bench.

Now if anyone has a problem with them playing till full time then post away.

PPBB - ever heard of discussion (different opinions) on here and not just back-patting each other?

I didn't realise that now I'm a mod excludes me from having one with whomsoever I choose.

You packed in the modding for your own reasons, so give the "mod thing" a break and discuss issues not posters OK. <ok>

jck - you have just repeated what I said about those two in the Sunderland game mate - they should have been left on the pitch not replaced by Cowie and Gunnar.

Lol you telling me discuss issues not posters? Hilarious

There has been a sustained ad hominem attack on Jck and I thought the mods were supposed to reign that in?

Whatever - I'll just go back to reading

Fair enough Sparkey we can leave it there now and hope we have a great game today.

I do not have any problem with any poster here no matter what their views or what they say, the worse thing that can happen is you make a post and no one thinks its worth a reply.

Neither do I, but it seems like PPBB does. If anyone disagrees with another poster's views, it's obvious who that poster is by the very nature of the reply.

Looks like PPBB wants to stop discussion seeing it as "having a go". Maybe going back to reading only on here is a good idea unless you want to join in.

Now let's see if either Noone or Kim (or both) get a full game today.

No problem with anyone's views just when they start on someone for disagreeing with them

What views to I allegedly disagree with?

Just no need to say he's talking out his arse/a jack/start threads about him and support such action through apathy

    I expected better
