Folks in light of our apparant failure to get Crouch and Pav both of which are non starters by all accounts, Ive heard a whisper down here on Merseyside via the north west press that Rodallega is apparantly our next choice option (valued at 9 million according to BBC Radio Lancs today who aired the story). Whats your views on him folks ? I think hes ok may do a half decent job alongside Gyan.

Like Rodallega a lot. Big and strong but not prolific. He would be a good foil for Gyan. However, just seen this on Clubcall.

Rodallega only attracted to big guns
    Wigan Athletic, 14:49, June 12, 2011

Hugo Rodallega has played down reports linking him to Sevilla and said he would only consider leaving Wigan for a title-chasing club.

The Colombian international was instrumental in the Latics' successful scrap for Premier League survival with nine goals for Roberto Martinez's side. And the 25-year-old, who has impressed greatly since arriving at the club in 2009, has again been linked with a summer exit from the DW Stadium.
But Rodallega claims he has heard nothing about a possible switch to Spain's Primera Liga with Sevilla or interest from Italy and England, while he is adamant that only a club that is fighting it out for top honours could entice him away from Wigan, where he has a year left on his current contract.
He told Colombian based newspaper El Pais: "I'm happy at Wigan because in the two-and-a-half years they have treated me well, I've earned a place and I am already one of the major players in the team.
"It makes me feel at home, but if the opportunity arises to go to another larger team, who give me the chance to fight for a title, I could and would accept it gladly."

Rather have defoe. Rodellega isn't a 15 goal a season man

He's only 25 kidda. Great age for a player and £9m excellent value in todays market.

Neither is Defoe mate these days. His head has gone for me. He'd demand stupid wages as well and like Bent, would want to be off asap back to be nearer the smoke.

Was rubbish last match up here but that was in a ****e team.
Would have preferred pav but realistically was never gonna get him. Rods a big strong lad, with gyans tricks and sesses pace could be good.

He's a finisher though, and that's what we need imo

Get him in! He's a big lad and I think Gyan wants to see someone coming in that he can play off. Sign him IMHO.

Wouldn't mind Rodellega at all. I think Gyan could go either way in terms of the sort of partner he plays with- I think if Rodellega was our second striker, then Gyan would score more, as opposed to if he played with a poacher, if that makes any sense..

I reckon he'd be a good buy and 9m seems a good price. However like Cest said, if he'd only go to a team who are challenging for titles then that is that really... I mean turning down Sevilla is a pretty big deal...

Rodallega would be a good buy at £9M. Better than Crouch, who's good at playing other forwards in, but isn't an out and out scorer himself and doesn't want to come here anyway. I'd take him and N'Gog TBH. That would be a pretty decent forward line with Asa and one more would be plenty with Campbell still to come back.

Rodallega would be a perfect partner for Gyan we should offer 18m for him & N`Zog & try and get the deals done ASAP

would be a good signing IMO

Gyan playing off Rodallega, both aint 20goal a season strikers like Bent but both would bring others into the game and the goals would be shared around more with the likes of Sess IMO getting 8 or 9 a season.

Would be pretty happy with Gyan, Rodallega, N'Gog, Ji and Campbell as the group of strikers in the squad

Rodallega has come out and stated recently that he would only swap Wigan for a team challenging for a title (Doesnt have to be England though) perhaps Europe if not.

I really think we wont get him.

    So did Muntari <laugh><laugh>

I could see a team like Chelsea being drawn to his style of play, but how many starts would he get?

Rodellega would certainly fit with our current squad and his signing, though his signing, whilst in no way marquee definitely propels us in the right direction

Better than Crouch, Defoe and quite a few other blokes we've been linked to imho.

Rather have any of the spuds trio. Even prefer Dj Campbell to him.

    But who knows...
