Add a front four to that......and let these players get a chance to play together for 6-7 games

    Lallana --- Ramirez --- Rodriguez

    Osvaldo

I'd try Cork alongside Victor and play Morgan where you have Ramirez. Morgan is our best passer of the ball so lets get him doing it further up the field.

We can rotate like that ;)

For me it´s about getting Ossie on fire and I think Gaston is the right type of player that can put those slick through-balls to him.
He had one to Lallana against Spurs and tried a couple against Everton. I dont see those kind of passes from Morgan, or even Lallana.
And I think we need that threat, otherwise we´re being a bit too one-dimensional in our attacks imo.

Poor old Steve Davis, I know he's easy to drop but I quite like him keeping things a bit more solid as a counterpoint to Lallana's marauding.

Been thinking, for some reason I don't think we will sign or sell anyone at all. It would need to be a great deal for us because we are nowhere near panic mode.

At the moment, Steve Davis is one of the first names on the teamsheet for me. He was outstanding at Newcastle and has been very effective in the "number 10" role.

Davis's passing is underrated. His short passes are invariably crisp, precise and well-timed, and he is behind only Lallana and Lambert in the number of assists he's provided this season (with far less time on the pitch). As I keep saying though, these 'best 11' discussions are pretty pointless as you can't play the same 11 in every match. There is no reason we can't accommodate Ramirez as well as the others if he is indeed ready to stake a claim to a regular first-team spot.

It's adorable how determined some still are to fit Ramirez into a regular XI. Davis is simply better at our game, and Ward-Prowse is right behind him. I know we've got an expensive player who is supposed to be setting the league alight, but face it, that dream is not going to happen. He's a good player who doesn't fit in and needs to be somewhere he does. Time to accept we made a poor investment.

    Yep.
Personally, I'd like to keep Ramirez for the future, but he isn't going to improve fast enough on his meagre appearances, or be happy. So, perhaps it's time to say goodbye. I suspect Cortese will make sure we break even or perhaps even make a little profit.

I'm bored of Astori before he even pulls on a Saints shirt.

Debatable whether signing someone like Astori in January would be beneficial as opposed to waiting till the summer and getting them at knock-down price and having all of pre-season to develop a partnership with Dejan. He would need a good run of games to get that going and is that a risk we would take? Obviously depends on the figure we are talking for him.

I suspect Cortese won't care. Successful businessmen cut their losses as soon as they can.

I think January is the best time to sell. We could hang on to him until the Summer and hope that he has an amazing World Cup to up his price (just like the African Cup of Nations made Mayuka "amazing"!), but that's a bit risky. It is a shame because in his first start against Aston Villa, he was amazing, but never really showed any kinds of consistency. I don't think anyone is daft enough to pay 15m for a player who barely features for a side in 9th position. I'd be happy with around 5m as that should mean extra money towards a new signing, and our best signings so far have cost around that amount.

Gaston wasn't a bad investment he just doesn't suit MPs style of play. We didn't play this way under Nigel.

If we were to try and get a top quality defender in the summer to partner Dejan then Mehdi Benatia is the man I'd want.

The parla from Italy is that Astori is likely to be sold in this window as I believe his contract is up in the summer. Hopefully one way or another this rumour will be over :)

It's easy to find Astori a boring prospect due to the length of time we've been linked with him, however he really is a fantastic defender and I'd consider it a coup if we got him. He's as good if not better than Lovren IMO.

We also need to re-read the article that says how thorough our scouting team is and how long the track a player for; thus, any early rumours that come out could mean a long, long rumour time.
