I wasn't around Hull much between 1996 and 2000. News from home about City centred around the scores and not the politics. To be honest I was managing and coaching teams during that time and I only rang home on Sundays, so I never quite grasped the problem with Lloyd.

A comment was made to me the other day and that made me wonder about parallels in what happened then and what is happening now. I looked around and came acros this.

Owner with no idea about football
    Council land for development
    Upset fans

I'm not bothered about what happened when he left and just became a landlord, just his time as an owner,

I see where you're coming from but in reality there's absolutely no comparison. AA might not know a lot about football but he knows how to succeed in business, which is why he appointed Steve Bruce and not someone like Mark Hateley...the rest, as they say, is history.

Me too left UK in 1997 and lived in Turkey which corresponded to City's decline. With the spread of internet in Turkey around 2000 I was able to keep up more but those days in Izmir were a case of anything I could find in the Guardian Sports pages a day late and that was usually only the results.

Used to have bets with a Brighton fan on each match when we were in the same division - a beer to the victor. That's why I recall Bobby Zamora used to score against us regularly and I lost most of the beers.

One thing i do remember from Lloyd's reign, is that he thought it would be a good idea to bring Wimbledon fc to Hull, thus providing us with top flight football.

    Crazy owners eh ?

Lloyd had a fraction of the wealth that Allam has- he put virtually nowt in and did not back Hateley.

Like AA with NP and NB I suppose.
