Used to be one of the more enjoyable events in my calendar but can't really be arsed with it now. Might have a few down my local but otherwise will be round my brother's house.

Anyone got any plans? What's the going rate to get into a decent club now? I vaguely recall it hitting around 50 quid in the 90s which was when i decided to stop bothering

Years since I had a local boozer as such, don't know anyone here. Used to piss me off that the pub I'd been drinking in all year would want to charge for entry on NYE only to have to queue at the bar behind rows of people I'd never seen in there before. Worst night of the year for going out.

Our locals pretty good, no entry fee, a live band and they put on a buffet free too.

I totally agree but always find that slipping the duty manager a score at the start of the night leads to outstanding service though!

Hogmanay is ****e these days. You can do it any weekend if you want.

I'm going for a few beers after work and then having an early night before the bells. Meeting the folks for a curry tomorrow. Looking forward to that. Used to do this regular before I got married and over last couple of years has been resurrected.

Had a smashing time at Christmas at the folks with one of my sisters and my daughter.

Glad you enjoyed it ER - can't beat being with the family no matter how much of a pain in the arse they can be at times. Had a good one round my mum's with my briother and sister in law and their 3 girls too though did get a bit hammered on Christmas night <doh>.

I was very restrained. Had a couple of glasses of wine later on Christmas Night. Most of the rest of the holiday was spent playing games with the daughter and family. And I mean things like Dominos, Ludo, Uno, the simple games that you never tire of.

There was a guy playing music in my local.

"look, if you aren't all going to clap, I'd prefer none of you did".

He thawed out a bit after a while.
