Not a real transfer, but I really want Saints to offer 10 million for Ravel Morrison. If West Ham agrees, just offer him 1 pound a week wages or something so he doesn't come.

Southampton are reportedly interested in signing Cagliari defender Davide Astori this winter.
The 26-year-old has been on the Premier League club’s radar since the summer, when they ultimately decided to sign Dejan Lovren from Olympique Lyonnais, and the team could launch a new bid for him during the January transfer window.
According to the Mirror, Southampton are looking to further strengthen their defence and the Italian international is thought to be their first choice to fill a centre-back position in their line up.
Astori, who has also been linked to Napoli as of late, has been with Cagliari since joining from AC Milan in 2008 and has scored three goals in a total of 155 Serie A appearances for the club thus far.
The defender has scored one goal in his seven appearances with the senior Italian national team since his debut in 2011 and has previous experience with the Under-18 squad as well.

 

He'll be 50 by the time we sign him.

He would be first choice backup, and still get plenty of games.

 

Yea exactly. Hasn't done anything wrong. But he is 30 now. Probably can't play every game.

 

Fonte's story is one of the more heart-warming. Left Championship Palace to join league One Saints because he liked the story and the potential (and I am sure salary). He plays a key role in the two promotions and after a testing first season, he establishes himself as part of the best defensive unit in the Premier league (and second best in Europe) over the first ten games.

Well done Jose. When your time is up, you will certainly hold a special place in my Saints memories. Thanks for Fulham at home last season!

 

Is Fonte as important to our story/as much of a club legend as Rickie?

 

Both I see being back up more and more. Both have been great with us but if we can get better we should.

I'd say it is close, however goal scorers always grab headlines and Rickie was here from the start. Jose thumbed a lift half way through the first season.
