It's not point scoring. You said "Logic would say he was booing the ref..." so I asked why he was booing the ref? Can you give me a logical answer?

Because the Officials added 5 minutes of injury time, when there was no injury stoppages, thus giving Sunderland time to rescue the fixture? I sometimes wonder about some of these Referee's, We had a game first season up, when 5 minutes was also given, and yet the Referee played until the other team scored, he had finally allowed 6 minutes? cannot remember the team we played then though................<ok>

There were 6 substitutions in the second half < if you count Borini not coming out for 2nd half>

The ref stops the clock for these stoppages and if you look at when Cardiff made their last 2 it was in
the last 10 mins. obviously time wasting as most teams do when protecting a lead.

It's approximately 90 seconds per substitution made + what ever the ref adds on fior the inordinate amount of time wasting which would be expected as they were bricking themselves , 5 minutes was about right .

The time keeping is the 'fourth' official, and it's far from an exact science, the clock is never stopped, and there is discretion and human error in the mix, but as for your 90 seconds that's incorrect it's 30 seconds unless there is obvious time wasting, and even that is open to interpretation, there is far too much discretionary decision making, and such abuse by some poor officials is always the complaint of team Managers!...............<ok>

The clock is never stopped! No Referee stops his watch. It's just a case of monitoring their watch. see my reply to Mathew Lurky

There area number of factors in aded time The fourth official stops his watch I believe .
    ,1. substitutions
    2. assessment of injury to players
    3. removal of injured players from the field of play for treatment
    4 wasting time
    5 any other cause.

Without watching the game ,(I was returning from the Villa game) , I don't know whether any of the above took place .but it's not unusual and no worse than what happens to any other team

5 minutes seems a lot but nobody can complain as its the refs job and everyone has to accept it whether they like it or not...play to the whistle not the clock..
