Four away points over Christmas must be seen as a successful outcome. Argyle battled to a gritty draw at Wimbledon with a 88th minute equalizer from the man of the moment Rueben Reid. Wimbledon edged the first half and got their just reward two minutes into the second half with a well headed goal from 6ft 4in Smith. Sheridan shook up things during the second half with his substitutions and Argyle finished stronger with young Purrington providing an excellent through ball that Reid latched on to for the equalizer. A steady team performance, although Sheridan thought they where not as good as he had wanted them to be......two long away journeys in four days might of taken the edge off the performance. Home to Torquay on New Years Day will be an important game, with Argyle the lowest home scorers in the league with only eight goals.....this is a good time to start putting that right. How important will two long away trips be on a possibly weary Argyle on Wednesday......maybe a few changes needed to freshen up the team....although Ben Purrington has played well in his first two starts, is that a match too far for a 17yr old to play in seven days,we shall see. Torquay beaten at home by Devon rivals Exeter 3-1 will surely be up for putting that right against Argyle, they have not had a long journey to contend with this past weekend so could be fresher. Other news at present........Neal Trotman has been offered a new contract until the end of the season. Sheridan will be checking with Sheffield W regarding keeping Caolan Lavery for another loan period.....that could be important seeing how he is doing well with Reid and scoring himself as well. Jamie Reckord has returned to Wolves....a niggling ankle injury and loss of form did not help him during his time at Home Park, although his loan time did start well. Tope Obadeyi will probably be returning to Bury after the Torquay game....Bury's new manager seems keen to get him back. Sheridan will be talking to both Hamza Bencherif and Andre Blackman whose short term loans are coming to an end , that should happen before the Torquay game.......it is possible that both will be leaving.....neither travelled for the two away games and seem to be down Sheridan's pecking order at present.
Thanks BC...alias the Bear hugger.......I like trawling Argyle news.......saves others having to do it ....Happy New Year Bear hugger....when it eventually reaches you of course.
HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL....wish I was still in Canada to celebrate BC....don't drink too much of that Rye and give the bears pots of maple syrup...Cheers!
Further to the news about Caolan Lavery.....he will be staying another month...but with a 24hr return clause this time. Good news for Argyle especially seeing that Sheff W have strikers unavailable at the moment.
