http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2013...utions-for-pochettino-and-southampton-xmas-f/ As 2013 draws to an end, with Saints 9th in the Barclays Premier League, I was asked to compile 5 resolutions/targets/aims that I think the club should be looking to achieve/do in 2014. I spoke to a few Saints fans in various places to check that what I was about to put wasn't miles out, so I hope it isn't. Anyway, if you could give it a read and let me know if you agree or disagree on the points, that'd be good! What are your hopes and what do you want to see from SFC in 2014? DTLW
Couple nitpicky things/suggestions: That is not a particularly sharp contrast. There's certainly a contrast in his overall quality of play, but looking at the statistics alone he's not far off. Might be worth contrasting it with the number of shots we get, in addition to the goals; Whoscored has us second in the Prem in possession overall, but only ninth in shots taken/shots on target...illustrates that the problem isn't so much being wasteful with chances, but failing to generate chances from that possession (and thus feeds into your point about needing an additional playmaker).
The first one, the use of the word "sharp" is not something I put. I used stark, when looking at the stats a couple of weeks ago, and when submitting the final draft this morning I removed "stark" and just left the word "contrast", so not sure why the sub-editor has decided that it warranted an adjective to marry with the use of "contrast". The second one, that's a fair point and something that will have linked into the point I was making pretty well too. Thanks for the suggestion. It could've gone into a lot more depth as I tend to get carried away with statistics (yes, sad, I know) but I tried to curtail it and perhaps should have elaborated or swapped some of the data. Thanks Schad.
My wish is for our strikers just to have a shot and not pass it around there box to try and create an opening. Gaston did it the other day and he scored. I no I'm being negative but for god sake shoot
Your number five would be my number one...get Mauricio signed to a longer contract to show commitment to him and to the path we are taking. I'm sure it would make no sense to Cortese or to most fans, but I would rather play in our present style than finish a bit higher whilst playing sterile football.
Cortese to have a weekly meeting with CBK, so that he is fully informed on anything related with Southampton Football Club.
