Welcome news but surely another Spurs loanee isn't the answer. We need someone with a proven track record. http://www1.skysports.com/football/...ant-a-striker-as-tottenhams-harry-kane-linked
I don't think we will buy anyone major. I'd be surprised if we gave anyone but a genuine right age prospect a decent contract given that if we don't go up Harold should be do the decent thing and resign (I won't hold my breath) and we don't want new manager syndrome and if we do we will need another major squad revamp anyway. They might surprise us though.
If he hadn't been playing (and scoring) for Stoke I would have put money on us going for Crouch again but now I have no idea. I do think though we may as well get Hitchcock back rather than get Harry Kane in on loan.
He'll be gone before then. If West Ham lose at Fulham Sam will be gone and Harry won't be able to resist...
They won't pay him £3m a year and he still has a £5m hole in his property portfolio.........but we can dream.
Hope this doesn't happen personally, but another striker is clearly needed. His previous loan spells and game time at Spuds haven't really earned him great reviews. If he signs, I can see him going the same way as Carroll and getting a little out of his depth due to added pressure and responsibility we would throw at him. Hopefully I'm wrong of course lol
I think he will buy a decent striker as we will have 10 million + once we sell on Remy, have you all forgotten! Kane will be loaned as cover only that is my prediction.
Not looking likely... Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has been speaking about the future of on-loan striker Loic Remy and told Absolute Radio: We feel we can sign him,we have the finance to do that but of course probably at the end of the year. Loic and his agent and his representatives will decide where his future is. No mention of the Rs in there.
Although it would be great to see young Hitchcock knocking them in for the Rangers, I wonder if there's a bit too much optimism (my own included!) in him being ready for Championship first-team action, especially with the weight of expectation, evident on this board, that his currently surrounding him as our goal-scoring saviour. He's back in January, as I understand it, but might it be a bit much to expect him to resolve our goal issues single-handedly?
I would so love to agree with you mate, it would make my absolute year...But if he isn't wearing an Arsenal shirt by the begining of next season i'll be very suprised.....
Agreed, as much as we would like it, Remy has proven he is a top striker, and destined for a Champions League team. Just hope we can get someone in early January, giving more time to gel with the team, and not one of last minute "elbow out the window" deadline deals
Nick Ward signed from Perth Glory - can't remember which season. Came with high expectations and was average at best apart from setting up a lovely winner at Cardiff all those years ago. Edit. Apologies for being a bit brief and slightly obscure. Double edit!! Read the paragraph about Ward. http://qprnet.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4643&start=0
Whoever we sign it has to be early in Jan as we are really struggling now. By the sounds of TF we are signing one player, plus a loan or two (he said one player excluding loans on twitter). So I bet Kane is one of those - but imo that is exactly what we don't need - a young striker on loan from another club. If we want to sign young, get one in permanently so they are ours, but sign a more experienced striker as well. Even better, sign a more experienced striker, and then use Hitchcock rather than sign a young striker from elsewhere. For experience and proven striker - someone like Luciano Becchio.
