What does eating hot dogs and popcorn have to do with language and vitriol being screamed at football games? I guess "accepted bahviour" is the operative phrase here. Why does letting off steam have to include foul language? Seems to me the leagues and clubs would want to get as many bodies through the gates as possible. Writing off women and kids is a big group to give up on, in my opinion.
Football historically was the preserve of the working man, long may it continue. Kids belong in school and women in the kitchen. Apart from mine who drive me home After I have a few beers at the game.
I'm afraid I didn't cover myself in glory when I used our 10yo washing machine for the first time when I started working from home. Apparently I was using dishwasher tablets! Took them a number of weeks to find out!
Football's where we let off steam, swearing at the ref, opposition players fans etc is a big part of the game..
It's nowhere near as bad as it used to be. But, If you don't want your kids to hear or use swearing, dont let them go to school. If you really want to know how your missus talks, bug her on one of her girls' nights out on the town. I did have an issue with people constantly effing and jeffing in the family section though, and my son was always upset by it, asking why those people can't go and sit in the Kop. He had no problem with songs, but he was well aware that foul-mouthed parents had no place in the family section with their own kids and surrounded by others' kids, some as young as 5.
