I'm sure Powell was a skillful, technical striker like Rooney when he was at Crewe, but Man U wanted to try and convert him into a midfielder.
I dont see Powell as a like for like swap with Livermore. I would expect him to play in the Aluko\Koren role, feeding off Sagbo.
don't think he will be a particular improvement though not brought in for the rest of the season, could be wrong mind
That's because Wigan are short of good strikers. Moyes has said on one site that he prefers him to play mid-field, rather than an out and out striker.
Koren's ageing and is struggling to nail down a first team place, meanwhile Aluko is crocked and we don't know what sort of form he will come back in, if he comes back this season at all.
In his book, Ferguson says Powell was played at outside left by Gradi. The Man U scouts were very impressed but couldn't decide his best position, but are sure he would play for England and could play anywhere. His progress was held up due to a virus and his girlfriend having a car accident.
Been on the cards for a while. Appears that Bruce and Moyes spoke about it on Boxing Day. Powell is best as a striker by all accounts of late.
So do you know him personally or not? I'd have thought your evening meals for 2 over a bottle of Babycham would be a better source than the Man Utd website reserve player profile section written by some Comms squirt. You really were quite clear when you said he's a midfielder. You now quoting this source all seems a bit of a retraction to me.....
You said it wasn't stated in the thread and if somebody had said that he could play striker and midfield, then we wouldn't be having this conversation. Hence the quote.
I meant if YOU said it we ie US TWO wouldn't be having this direct conversation. Jesus H.... So what are you doing with him tonight? Bit of one-on-one Lazer Quest? If we're signing the midfielder youd best make sure you don't injure him.
I'm sorry, I didn't realise you only responded to me and ignored everybody else in the thread. I'm not sure what you do with your friends, but I won't be going to lazer quest. Plus, he doesn't live in Hull, surprisingly.
Lewis, can't you just give your mate Powell a bell and ask him directly? Then we can put it all behind us.
From Sky Sports.... 16:24 Wigan boss Uwe Rosler insists he has been given no indication by Manchester United manager David Moyes that he's planning to recall Nick Powell to Old Trafford in January. There have been reports Powell could return to his parent club but Rosler told the Wigan Evening Post that all conversations he has had with Moyes indicate that Powell will continue his loan spell at the DW Stadium.
