Chairman Fernandes gives transfer warning as QPR stutter twitter2 29/12/2013 By West London Sport Chairman Tony Fernandes told QPR fans not to expect another glut of signings following the 0-0 draw at Watford â Rangersâ third match without a win. Fernandes is facing calls to spend big again after the team slipped to fourth in the Championship. But he claims the club do not plan to make major changes during the January transfer window. He tweeted: âIâll take the point. Transfer window open soon. We know what we have to do. Lots of games. Good start to the season. Chapter 1 closed. âWe got a great squad. Dominated play today. We donât need to do much business. Maybe one player. Just for the record. â22 games. Lots of points there. Ps look at the other relegated sides. Rather be in our position. We ainât hit top form yet. Lots to come.â Râs midfielder Gary OâNeil tweeted: âDisappointing not to win! Good to get back to a clean sheet tho. On to the next one!â
Please TF, Just splash out on Rhodes or the like. a goalscorer who we can keep for a while. If we really tried we could get Ings, Vardy or Rhodes. They all have their price and i reckon would all prob leave their current clubs
He is right though, we just need another goalscorer to back up Austin, there would be no point in bringing a load of players in and upsetting the already wobbly apple cart. I would like a Rhodes type player but just can't see that sort of deal going through in January without it being silly money. More likely we will get a Crouch or Defoe, personally I think Defoe would tear up this league.
We need someone as back up but we are crying out for someone to partner Austin. If we play Austin on his own for the rest of the season there is no way we will get up. Dont laugh but whats Grant Holt doing?. Target man to win some headers.
I would really struggle to see Fatty Holt in the Hoops but if they deem he is the man, I would support him I suppose. Might take a while to work up some enthusiasm. EDIT. meant to also say that I'm glad TF is managing expectations but none of us expected much change did we? One decent striker, two if we are lucky.
I think Fernandes is doing the right thing and managing our expectations. He's had to balance the books these past 6-8 months and must be concerned about FFP etc. Chevanton going appears to be sign of a more frugal chairmanship; appears he was a stopgap whilst Bobby Johnson and Andy Zamora (why not? I'm bored) were unfit and they couldn't afford to keep him once those two striking dynamos were back and firing (groan!). Why we couldn't have given Hitchcock some more game time, however, is beyond me.
I hope Col doesnt read that on his mobile while having his blood pressure taken, I think hed set a record. Holts bever been heard of since he went to wigan because he is ****, fat and slow.
IMO we are still short at the back and of a decent holding midfielder and a striker. Like to see our youngsters be given a chance rather than another spurs kid coming in. If we do go out and buy under 25's in these positions perhaps we will be in a position not to have to make big changes should we win promotion and the players will have half a season to bed in. Long term vision please....
Whoever plays as the striker, whether it be Austin, Rat Boy, RVP or Grunt, they won't get very far unless the service/backup improves. See StanleyParkerBowles thread: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/243346-The-problem-is-midfield-not-strikers
Buy one striker.......................... AND BRING BACK HITCHCOCK Have I meantioned that before Soyou clever knowing lads out there ......CAN WE BRING BACK HITCHCOCK...is he on a short or season loan................?
I think it was a 3 month loan but cant be arsed to check, he should certainly be on the bench at the moment but Redknapp doesnt want him there as it would lessen his chances of getting has beens like Crouch or Cole in the window.
Hitchcock's loan ends on January 7th. Not long Beth, not long...... Redknapp may just play him in January to "prove" how badly he needs more money to spend. I wouldn't bank on seeing him after that.
QPR chairman Tony Fernandes says the club will look to add only one new player to their squad when the transfer window opens later this week. Harry Redknapp's side failed to find the back of the net for the fourth time in six Championship matches on Sunday as they were held to a 0-0 draw at Watford. Their recent run of form has caused them to slip to fourth place in the Championship table, prompting suggestions manager Harry Redknapp will try to bring in a host of additions to boost their promotion push. But Fernandes believes minor tweaks are needed, suggesting Redknapp need only bring in one new player in January. Following the draw at Vicarage Road, he wrote on Twitter: "We got a great squad. Dominated play today. We don't need to do much business. Maybe one player. Just for the record." QPR have been linked with Stoke City striker Peter Crouch and Tottenham forward Jermain Defoe in recent weeks. Both players played under Redknapp at Spurs and at Portsmouth. At least he (Defoe) would force himself into the box, which is more than we seem to manage at the moment (with the exception of Austin - hence he ismour top scorer!!!).
