I thought Matty did well when he came on. For all he was playing against a woeful Fulham defence he looked a handful.
We do need another striker but Matty is a useful backup I've always believed that. But why the **** are we discussing championship fodder on this thread.
I think Fryatt has more ability than Graham, we still need another striker, but I'd be happy to keep Fryatt in the mix.
Really pleased that Fyratt scored but by the time he, Graham and McShane came on Fulham were punch drunk and had given up. We were attacking at will and consequently anyone would have looked good. Hopefully he can repeat it though in a game which is more even.
Fryatt has played for us and Wedn this season. Is he allowed to play for a third team? If not then its either keep him or send him back out to Wedn.
Both Fryatt and Graham looked sharp when they came on today. I agree with OLM though, we cannot afford to be complacent after one fantastic team performance, we still need another striker in January.
Yes. He was on an emergency loan at the wendies so his time there doesn't count as playing for them in the sense of that rule. Really like Fryatt, really like his style, barely seeing him for nearly 2 years has been a shame. Just te type of striker we need, stay forward, stay forward, drop off to pick up and lay the ball off quickly, charge forward, sniff around the danger areas in the box... The rare times Elmo and Brady stick a decent cross in, he will be there to ensure it doesn't go to waste. Just lacks pace, strength or any sort of physical presence to aid in build up play, but when we're on top or chasing a goal he's perfect. Great chemistry with Koren too, they can read each other inside out.
I'd have thought it was more about keeping people available for the Liverpool game than the FA Cup game. With the way we matched Man U on Boxing Day, destroyed Fulham, and completely outplayed Liverpool last time there's no reason we shouldn't go to Anfield looking to complete the double over them, especially with Gerrard out as well. I'm not saying I expect us to do it, but we should certainly be thinking that if we keep playing the way we are we could repeat the result of the first game by putting in a similar performance. Meyler can do his man marking job on Coutinho this time (having done it on Gerrard in the first game).
delighted for Matty who has worked really hard to get back and bag his first PL goal.. hopefully more to follow.. he'll get another chance I reckon since Bruce hasn't seen much of him during his reign.
Matty might not be premier class but he,s good around the six yard box and will pick up up a few goals from the likes of Koren Hudders etc who like to have a go from range. Any keeper who cant keep the ball you can guarantee Matty will be on it like a terrier.
