After 19 games we have 21 points.

After "losing the next four games",we will still have 21 points. (Goodness knows how many points the other teams in our mini league will have amassed, hopefully a lot less).

Now 21 points after 23 games equates,on a pro rata basis,to 34/35 points at seasons end. That's too close for comfort, and relegation form in anyone's book.

On the face of it,I get the impression that many here are hoping/assuming/waiting for OTHER teams to implode, and thereby save The Swans' from some ignominy.

We CANNOT rely on other teams to fail, and MUST start to turn superior possession into goals, which in turn brings points. Not rocket science,I know.

Do I think we will be relegated?

No,simply because there are too many poor/average teams in the P.L.,and not because we are too good.

But it will be a close call.

That just about sums up my thoughts. Also think there are some really bad teams at the bottom, but it could get pretty close. And sometimes these things can come down to luck. A lucky goal in last minute or whatever. Don't want to be in that situation. Which is why I think those odds of 25-1 look pretty good.Worth a punt maybe, and hope not to win.

Because the couple of posters you are referring to are wumming and are just out to create chaos rather than any actual football debate

One of the next 4 games, 1 is a cup game. Our 4th league game is home to Fulham. So we should get minimum of 3 points from next 4, but possible 5-6. So could be 24-26 points after 23 games. So that would have us at 39-43. That sounds a lot better. but still to close for comfort. I don't think we'll lose next 3 though. Football never works out that simply. Plenty of surprises. We might win next 3 and then lose to Fulham. That's how football is sometimes.

I agree. But I am not waiting for other teams to implode. It is unlikely that we will turn possession into points in the next few games for obvious reasons. But after that, with players coming back from injury and a bit of squad strengthening in January we should be back on track - with the majority of tough fixtures out of the way.

I would put money on our second half of the season being far better than the second half of the last two seasons.

Just had another check of the fixtures and after the next 3 we have what seems like a very easy time for a good few games. Could easily pick up 15 points if things go well. And as you say, many of the injured players should be back by then. Here's hoping.

Also we don't have the mid week games in Europe to contend with. That rest should see an improvement in form for the second half of the season. (Use Newcastle last season as an example) Way I see it is we've done the hard part and now is the time to see what we're about. I feel confident and not going to pull a wobbler like some on here.

I'm sure other teams will also strengthen in January, and a lot will then depend on who makes the most astute purchases.

"with the majority of tough fixtures out of the way". Hmm,I think they are all tough fixtures, from Newcastle to Norwich to Southampton, and all the other places in between.

The only easy games in the P.L. are played on paper,or internet Forums such as this one.

I didn't say there are any easy games. For tough read top 5/6.

I didn't say that you did.

We don't only lose to "top 5/6" teams.

I agree it is relegation form, however as either PGF or swans-m (i think it was on these two, apologies to the correct poster if not) stated, we have to play 5-6 of the teams currently below us at home in the second half of the season, and we have to win ALL of those games in my opinion.

Our home form is so unimpressive though,Valley, consequently no guarantee of maximum points there.

There's a dog fight brewing in the lower reaches of the P.L.,and we're in it,whether we like it or not.

Good to have some realism on here, and our boys had better pick their boot straps up second half of the season, as it could get rather quiet at the Library

Agree here too Vetch, but at least it is in our own hands in terms of the points we need to get. Either way we are now in a relegation scrap, especially after we get the next 4 games out of the way. The Fulham match at the end of January is going to be a HUGE game in our fight for survival, and should we not win this game, then things could get very bad <ok>
