Just a quick thought for Chris Powell (and Vol-au-Vent). When the current owners came in, they guaranteed Parky's job. We then lost 4-2 at home to Swindon (I think) and out the door he went! I know nothing about this Belgian guy, but if the takeover is announce before kick off, and the Massives go back to yorkshire with three points, who knows who'll be in charge for the Ipswich game!!
Someone in Belgium must've thought it was a done deal as their tv stations and the mail ran with it. All these guys compete to break the story - it's what give journos credit. If it's said tomorrow the deal is complete, then it looks good on them. Just remember - Dan Roan broke the story last time and took loads of stick before it was formerly announced
I have never forgotten it. Whatever good they have or have not done the club, I have never trusted anything they say since. Two slimeballs who could hide from sight behind a corkscrew. I don't think that result would affect his decision, just as the Swindon result did not affect our present owners. Their minds were already made up and they were just lying through their teeth. If he is coming in with someone already in mind as manager, the game this weekend won't change his mind. That is apparently what happened at Standard so it is not impossible, but if it does happen it will signal that he is only in it for what he can get out of it and is not interested in Charlton's welfare. Anyway we are going to win 2-1.
Are you sure because I have always liked Tits.... especially Great Tits Although Red Robins are better
"Owning a football club is like standing over a drain with a wallet full of money upside-down."> Mark Hulyer. "A man who dies rich dies disgraced"> Andrew Carnegie, who gave away his fortune to build Carnegie Hall, several libraries in Scotland among other good causes. That's what we want, someone who will embrace both these philosophies, and pour their millions into Charlton FC.
What is interesting since the story broke yesterday is that supporters known to be up Richard Murray's backside have posted that no deal is done until ex Directors have signed off the bit about them getting their money back. Ha ha. Derek Chappell (remember him?) is owed a nice wedge, and the Great Muzza himself, who hangs around CAFC like a black cloud, is also owed a big pot. If the Belgian does take over then I would like to see, as part of the deal, all ex Directors from 2006 barred from even watching a game at the Valley. Fat, corpulent, florid, useless blazered tossers.
No Dick, they are helping out by giving rep out the people from General Chat gave out negative rep which is why some people had red dots under their names rather than green Albert and Lamb are the guys in white hats rather than black. I know that it didn't bother a lot of people but it annoyed me that GC had taken a lot of people's rep points away because they had a lot of rep points themselves.... so I asked some guys to help out and Albert and Lamb have helped out The more rep points you have then the more you can add OR take away.
Don't assume my problem with Murray is because he "behaved as a fan". I never elaborated, but it has nothing to do with that, and even less about his mistakes, which admittedly were plenty... Maybe Murray being a fan was the problem..? His ego did run away with him at one point, after Curbs left... Surely a good businessman would have looked for takeover/investment opportunities long before relegation from the PL, especially once it became obvious that he couldn't keep his best players, and only give his manager a 6M annual transfer budget... The PL was too rich for him... He became top notch at selling off anything that resembled a good footballer, hence our demise... To me he ultimately looked like some third rate poker player, trying to win his money back. What's not to understand with the term "ambitious fans"... So many of our fans. I see them as the Target 5,000, sound like that would actually be happy to have "their cult club all to themselves... They revel this small club nonsense. Romanticise it... There are fans on all these message boards who think they're glass half full merchants, but in reality talk the club down far worse than any Millwall or Palace fan could ever manage.. We are not worthy of a billionaire owner. We must sell all our best players, but then blame the manager for the lack of quality we are left with... We can look forward to relegation and embrace the forthcoming "easier games" in the lower division... We must not consider playing in anything larger than 27K seater We must not leave The Valley, regardless of what fortunes it could bring. We must ignore the fact that we are making our club look & sound like a pub team, then demand we should be doing better with the players our finances have left us with....
