No need to rule out a single performance, just saying Thudd in general is enough.

Have to say, I agree with lewis- the way he breaks up play and so often gets a foot in to win the ball back for us is as important as anything else he does. I'm not sure I've seen a more complete player.
    He's bloody marvellous.

man united would be improved with thud in their side.. but don't let david moyes know this!

i've seen xavi in person.. as daft as it might sound i honestly think huddlestone is a better passer of the ball than even him...(yes xavi has a greater overall game) a great example of this.. is his freekick for fryatts goal.. just check his technique.. it was almost lazy like, he just strolled to the ball and flicked a foot out and it strolled 35 yards to the goal... i've never seen a freekick like it, there's no rose tinted glasses here, he was just absolutely audacious today, and if he stays fit, there is no way we will go down, an absolute privilege to have him in our team

the way he just picked the ball up from a 5-10 yard pass today and suddenly struck a beautiful 30 yard pass was just incredible, (seriously just watch the highlights in full) such audacity to his play, he is really playing with confidence and that's what he lacked at spurs from limited game time.. we have a truly world class player on our hands, there's no doubt in my mind

no, don't be daft, huddlestone is just a world class passer of the ball, our team is great defensively and our midfield has contributed massively to his play , a bit lacklustre upfront, but that's ridiculous to say, we ain't **** at all, huddlestone is just the crown to our kingdom, you're obviously pissed patty

every kingdom needs a crown to their kingdom and thud is ours.. he's good enough for every single team in the premier league

    Huddlestone was absolutely fantastic........ but?

Is this not the greatest City team we've seen? Like ever??

6-0 in the Premier League! I don't care who it's against but this kind of result is incredible! We're in the top half going into 2014. Sweet Dreams were made of this. Who am I to disagree?

Easily the best team we have ever had, and Hudd is the best player we have ever had. I dont think anyone would disagree with that.

I agree that this team is fantastic, SB is a fantastic manager (up to this point) I hate to be a **** but I cant help the feeling that he did the same at Sunderland, started out great in the first half of the season and then after chrimbo everything went downhill from then on.

I do expect Sunderland, Cardiff and West Ham to be relegated.

    2008-2009 - Season before Bruce - 16th Place
2009-2010 - First Season with Bruce - 13th Place - 3 better than before Bruce
    2010-2011 - 2nd Season with Bruce - 10th Place - 3 better than previous season - 6 better than before Bruce
2011 - November 30th 2011 - Last Season with Bruce - 16th Place at time of sacking - 6 worse than previous - Equal to before Bruce

So he took over a club moved them up the table every year tell the year he was sacked. In the sacking year he was still above the relegation zone and the same place in the standings when he was hired. He was also not even given even half a season that year. I didnt pay that much attention to them when Bruce was with them. I would guess that the drop from 10th to 16th caused the sacking, but honestly If this is what we can expect from Bruce ill take it.

I can cast iron guarantee now that come this time next year players who go to Brazil will be struggling for form and blaming tiredness. Fans of their clubs will bemoaning the lack of a summer break affecting them. Other teams can allow for this, I don't want that to happen to one of our most important players.

Wasn't it just literally a few days ago on the 'best signing, most underrated etc' thread that some people were saying Hudd was the biggest disappointment and most overrated player?

Tom huddlestone is one of, if not the best passer of a football I have ever seen. His technique is outstanding. One thing that has always baffled me, is the way he manages to do that "grass cutting" strike of the ball, whether it's a shot or a 40 yard pass.the ball just seems to zip off the surface, manages to stay low and is always very accurate. It really is such a hard thing to do, especially in a game situation under pressure and with little time on the ball. But that brings me onto the next part of his game. - the way he makes up for his lack of pace by the space he creates for himself. He's also very intelligent and has often thought about his next move before he's even received the ball. Footballing intelligence is a hugely underrated element in the game which often goes unnoticed, but Tom has tonnes of it.

He is still loved by many spurs fans as he was a "Tottenham" type of player. He oozes class and plays football how it should be played.

The only problem we found with Tom is that our style of play often highlighted his weaknesses a bit. In recent years or so especially(forgetting AVB's reign), we've been known for our fast paced attacking play. For some reason despite his obvious qualities, he was often anonymous for us, and therefore lost his place in the team. We had other options that gave us more, which suited our play over 90 mins of football. His injury problems didn't help either and it became difficult for Tom.
(Which begs the question now about sigurdsson, who you barely know is on the pitch)

However, now, it looks very much like a case of "you don't know what you got till it's gone". But what Danny Murphy said last night was a ****ing ridiculous exaggeration. We've got loads of new players who are new to this league and are still learning. We might not be seeing the best from those players, but when you've got a chairman like ours that gets so many footballing decisions wrong, it's no wonder. When they get some continuity, we'll see these players shine. People are already writing off Lamela and Eriksen. They are going to look very stupid when we start seeing the best of them. - Gareth Bale was once rumoured to be heading to Birmingham for 3m when he was struggling to settle.... Look how that ended up.

Going back to tom, I'd love to have him back. He's better than Lewis holtby, that's for sure. You've got a great player who will entertain fans every week with his style. He'll also install confidence in the other players to play "football". I believe this is the reason that hull have been so good to watch this season, but you all might correct me on that.
Also, sometimes players just need to be at a club where they feel loved by the fans and a bit of a "star man". This is a prime example of someone whose moved on to improve his career. You don't see a lot of that these days, as so many transfers are purely about money and greed.

Tom deserves to go to the World Cup. The effort he's put in to get in probably the best shape he's ever been in, as well as the steps he's made to get his career back on track after injury, deserve this. England are ****, but if we've got people in our team who are fighters, leaders and role models, we stand a much better chance, despite not being as good technically as other teams.

As it stands, he's in great form and like everyone else has said, is way better than overrated cleverley.

It's a fair point. I remember when Bale was a figure of failure fun and the joke was he had never played in a winning spurs side. Wasn't it about 20+ games until he tasted victory in a Spurs shirt?

Yeah something like that. 22 stands out for some reason. Pretty sure he got sent off in one of them too.

But it just goes to show how things change.

We've got a member on our board has very close dealings with spurs. - the closest you can get, pretty much. He has always rated Tom very highly and said last summer that he was in great shape. My god is it paying off for him this season, and you guys.

Long May it continue. He's a pleasure to watch. - just gotta pray that he stays fit though fellas.

what also annoys is that some see it as a single performance , against Man Utd , what stood out for me was Hudds one touch passes that he almost always got bang on , these were touches under pressure and with no time to look around n gawp.

His only negative is his movement , and as Bruce rightly says England will want to play possession football in Brazil with people capable of playing accurate calm football in the middle , not headless running around .
There IS room for Hudd in the England squad -

And same can be said for Davies , he plays each week under pressures that Jag Jones (who i used to really like the look of) or Cahill dont experience often.

Let's just hope he can stay injury free for as long as possible. As he is always in the centre of our play, he will invite more tackles on him than the average player. That Rooney tackle for instance could have resulted in a serious injury.
