It all comes down to honesty by the referees no matter who their favourite club is, for instance a dishonest northern ref in charge of a game down south can influence league placings in favour of his/her club from the north etc. And your naive if you think refs don't hold grudges, if they don't make their snide decisions to obvious their mates at the refs association and the FA back them to the hilt. Its win win for not to honest refs.
So basically what you`re saying is if you get a Spanish team in Europe then you shouldn`t get a Danish ref?
Most United supporters come from down south or anywhere but Manchester (i am led to believe) so who would be safe to ref us?
In England i have seen thousands of bad ref decisions, hundreds of "homer" refs but can`t think of a time i have genuinly thought a ref was bent
You just contradicted yourself, a referee shouldn't be a "homer", a referee should be equally fair and honest to both sides. So you are basically saying you've seen hundreds of bent refs.
Can't remember a referee getting seriously hurt in England for giving a "homer" decision so whats to fear for the ref? I can remember many frightened refs at OT, not of the crowd but of the old twat with the red nose on the touch line.
