Interesting piece this and makes you wonder?

    Friday 27th December 2013.

Jan Aage Fjortoft has told talkSPORT there is no chance that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will take over at Cardiff after Malky Mackay was sacked.

The former Manchester United legend has been installed as the bookmakers favourite to take over in the Welsh capital and is frequently linked with Premier League jobs.

But ex-Middlesbrough player Fjortoft told Keys and Gray: "[It] won’t happen. I understand that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won’t pick a club, he will pick a owner so Cardiff won’t happen. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did an interview some weeks ago and said if he goes to England he will be very aware of what owner he’s going to work with.

"He will pick an owner and not a club. Based on what I know there’s no chance he’ll go to Cardiff City."

Former Norway international Fjortoft says it's no surprise that his compatriot is linked with bigger jobs considering the fact he has won two successive Norwegian titles with Molde in his first managerial role.

"He has built up a club with Molde, who hadn’t won a thing for 100 years. His contract situation is that he has a contract until the summer of 2014, which is normal, but not in Norway as our season goes until November 2014, so it’s all fitted for him to go to England.

"Ole Gunnar wants to build up something. He’s always been intelligent through his career. He will take his time and find the right club. It will be England for him because I can’t see any other markets that he will have that bonus or that reputation or that loyalty from the English fans."

Exactly. He's learning his trade and has turned down Aston Villa (a basket case of ownership), and now set too turn down them up the road so it seems! "He wont pick a club, he will pick an owner" "He wants to build something". He'll definitely be advised by SAF, just wonder if he's the guy Hugh will turn to in the summer?

Agree Cruyff, if I remember correctly, he was set to take the Villa job until Fergie advised him against doing so.

The problem is this is from Talksh!te Radio.

2 decent presenters Hawksbee and Jacobs the rest not worth listening to.

Though I dont see why OGS would want to work for Tan.

"Though I don't see why OGS would want to work for Tan".

The money that Tan will now have to pay to attract anyone half decent will be a strong enough reason for some,if not all, possible contenders.

Premier League Managers' achievements differ vastly, but they all have one thing in common - they are all millionaires.

    To quote Harry Redknapp,"Any P.L. Manager who ISN'T a millionaire,is a fool".

    Thats very true.

Money and the PL is what is attracting these owners and big money will attract someone. Though I dont trust our owners judgement.

I dont see OGS who must be well off working with Tan though.

Never seen that Redknapp quote. Never had Harry down as someone thinking of the pound note.<laugh>

I'll be absolutely gobsmackd if OGS goes there. They will obviously attract a number of candidates but there are three types out there imo. Firstly, the type that go to a club for footballing reasons and where money is less of a factor. Laudrup is one of those and I think OGS is too. Secondly, we have the type that is a complete unknown, possibly from overseas who is just happy to be getting a leg up into the Premier League. Lastly, the money-grabbing type who will negotiate a huge salary, not give a **** about the club, the fans or the football and be quite happy to be sacked with a massive payout. Eriksson springs to mind.

Only the first kind of manager is worth going for. The others won't care about much other than the money, who the owners are or what contraints they work under. So they will get candidates but I can't imagine them getting too many in the first category. I will be amazed if it's anybody I'd consider decent.

It's funny how different we all are isn't it - I can't stand Hawksbee and Jacobs - I get annoyed if I'm in the car when they are on because it basically means I have no radio to listen to.

I find Hawksbee & Jacobs just laugh at each others jokes whilst Allan Brazil just name drops and brags about the functions he goes to. I know Collymore can be an irritating jerk but at least he welcomes input from the fans and gets more call-ins than anyone else.

If so,everything that remotely resembles a female will need to be under lock and key,24/7.

Ole gunner is a check book manager at the end of the day . Bankrolled by one of the wealthiest men in Norway to bring success to Molde once again. IMO he will not take the Cardiff job for many reasons but in all honesty i think anyone would be taking a gamble on him . Norways top division is the same as L1 over here and the standard of football is pretty poor, i know he built up a good rep coaching the youth at Man utd but i could probably have done equally as good with the worlds best youngters to work with .

In one way i hope he is given the job,he would probably fck it right up !! thing is ole gunner is IMO way too smart to attach himself to a club like cardiff, he will look at a steady team with good backing much like the article says .

I cant see him risk his reputation going there he be a fool to do that :)
