When Giroud misses another sitter, you can understand the instant reaction against him. What I disagree with is predicting long term results based on a minute's play. Like when West Ham scored, some of the comments were stuff like 'oh it looks like another fight for fourth place', 'another year without a trophy, and etc, those reaction are ridiculous, at least let the game finish before jumping off the bridge, FFS.

Giroud is getting a live twitter feed from me and Hans , people are concerned that it could affect his ahem " performance ".. adversely .

You can say 'for ****s sake' any time and anywhere. The match threads have always been like this because when a game is going on there is a lot of emotion involved and people really do say stupid ****, but that's why we have that thread. You can't expect everyone to be measured and calm.

    plain bollox.

but when we play cr@p we say we played cr@p and dont sweep it under the carpet....some people would sweep EVERY single dodgy performance under the shag pile like it never happened .

Kim Jong Un would be proud of some of the BS .

Its as simple as that .

if they are moaning bastards , who do they need to "save face "from ?

    Toledo Trumpy ?

    I think not .

    Themselves.

A bit like you saying Walcott had lost his quality, right before he scored a brace and won us the game,

    for example.

    This <ok>

I don't really have a problem with people saying stupid **** about the team/manager/players etc because most of it comes back to slap them in the face, so it ends up being quite funny.

But I do take exception to people whining when people come back at them with a counter opinion and you then start getting the ranting and personal attacks etc, that is just unnecessary.

It is exaggerated though in Giroud's case. Against West Ham, Cazorla missed 8 chances and Walcott and Ozil missed easier chances than Giroud's 3.

This is exactly like the Ramsey situation last year. People used to say he gave the ball away too much even when the stats showed he didn't. They used to say he passed sideways all the time even when the stats showed he didn't.

It is the same thing with Giroud. Because of the way we play, he actually gets fewer chances that the 3 players playing just behind him, but if he misses one, it is always blown up into a disaster. Other players have more and better opportunities to redeem themselves.

I am sure that the boo boys will say he should be getting more chances, but the reality is that he is creating chances, just not for himself.

If Giroud is creating the chances, perhaps we should judge him on his combined goals / assists total rather than just goals? Anyone have the appearances, goals, and assists stats so far this season for Giroud, Ramsey, Ozil, Theo?

Giroud has 7 goals and 4 assists in the prem in 17 starts.

No doubt Falcao would only have 6 goals and 3 assists.

I'm not trying to prevent you from saying anything. I'm pointing out that saying "Well that's it, we're battling for 4th place this year then" when we go behind by one goal halfway through a match at Christmas when we're top of the table is the kind of negative attitude which people accuse the Arsenal team of falling into when we get into good positions in the league.

As I said, if you don't believe in them then how can we expect them to have a positive attitude themselves? Say negative things all you want, but leave the doom and gloom out of it.

I can, and I will. If you can't control what comes out of your mouth, you have a problem.

Surely if people who were feeling positive about being a goal down to a relegation team into the second half posted in the match thread, it would be a much more balanced place?

The threads are open to anyone, to say anything, but are essentially a blow-by-blow of the game. The "theo is useless" at 60mins becomes very funny when by 85 he's scored twice.

Those that go over the top look foolish after their knee-jerk reactions. But likewise, those who refuse to acknowledge any problems with a performance because the match was won look equally foolish.

If everything was left til the end of the game to discuss, it would be awfully boring.

Is this really the case though ? I think most people are honest if we put in a poor performance.

Precisely. But the very few who are deemed overly negative get castigated. As should the very few who are overly positive.

    who said theo was useless?
    Dont remember that .

I said ( when we were having tremendous form ) and as a potential warning to some people who suggested we would be even stronger when our injured players came back , that it might not be the case.

We could be having tremendous form BECAUSE some players were out injured and the team has had to improvise....Ramsey had to attack more with walcott out .

Look how successful that was .

I certainly never said walcott was useless .

    No chance.

The problem is that it's plain to see that this attitude isn't just on a forum in a match thread, but filters through to matches as well. Arsenal fans are far, far too quiet when things aren't going our way. Contrast that to some other Premier League teams who have supporters that seem to make noise for the full 90 minutes and it's shameful.
