I am convinced that we will stay up this season..and I don't think that we need to sign a raft of players in this transfer -window.The lads are playing better football now,and I 'm looking forward to watching us win at Cardiff on Saturday. We now have some form and momentum.
Yes and No. Yes we will survive. No, we need another striker and a creative attacking midfielder. Any idea's?
Me neither ....... I've said for a while that we have a good team in that squad. We've had Bardsley, Cattermole and Wes Brown come back from 'the dead' and players like Mannone and Ki hitting form. Avoiding defeat tomorrow would really keep us going and a win would be a truly massive boost. Poyet has somehow managed to build confidence and momentum out of nothing ....... if he pulls this off then he could be here for years.
Is it just blind faith? We are bottom. Cardiff will be a really tough match and we don't score many. Especially in open play. Can that problem be rectified in January. Staying up is a tough job
If we fail to bring in a striker with some form and who is capable of taking chances, I think it will be a hard slog tbh. If we could get someone like Ba and this lad Bridcutt that Gus is a huge fan of and maybe one other, I fancy a strong finish to this season.
An AM, and striker with pace will do me, taking into account the loan deal for Alonso. I've always thought we'd survive. Never doubted it for a second and will continue to believe.
I hope he's here for years whether he pulls it off or not. He has worked miracles with a dude who, imo, could easily have broken Derbys points record. To he within touching distance if those around us is nothing short of miraculous. Love the way we play.
I was at the Villa - Palace game on boxing day with the in-laws and, except for the Palace goal, both teams were absolutely hopeless. Fulham and West Ham look rubbish, Cardiff could easily fall apart, West Brom and Norwich are nothing special. Hopefully Liverpool and Chelsea will give Hull a good drubbing and shatter their confidence too. We should actually survive comfortably. That said, we need either our current forwards to start scoring, or a new signing who will. I'm still hoping that Fletch and Jozy can start hitting the back of the net, starting today.
It's up too us to start scoring goals from open play, especially away from home, Fletch and Jozy are long overdue some consistent goal scoring so they need to step up to the mark and they need to do that today. Defensively were are looking much better, despite the changes forced on us on Boxing Day, with other teams in the bottom half shipping two and three goals regularily our goal difference has looked a lot healthier, but it is typical Sunderland, we stop the goals against and can't score or start scoring then ship in the goals, it's Gus's job to get the balance right, but I think he's on the right track. KTF
Don't agree about Hull they look solid but to be honest it's now three from eleven. An amazing table with just eight points between 10th and 20th.If you win today then I think it quite likely you will survive.
Hull look safe and have had some great results but they have a poor squad and that will eventually show. After today they have a very difficult run of games whether they want to acknowledge that or not. I've seen enough relegations to know that a combination of difficult home games, against title/Europe chasing teams, and away games against relegation rivals is a killer. These are Hull's next dozen games as an example, Hull v Fulham Liverpool v Hull Hull v Chelsea Norwich v Hull Crystal Palace v Hull Hull v Tottenham Sunderland v Hull Hull v Southampton Cardiff v Hull Hull v Newcastle West Ham v Hull Hull v Man City By the way, my mate John Stirk once marked Cruyff in a match at Portman Road and did a great job on him
Great lad from Iveston, near Leadgate, which we thought was dead posh coming from our little pit village.
he did indeed mark him very well that night , barca humbled by little ipswich town , as were many i saw at portman rd during the 70s
