Hardly an appropriate analogy...right?

You're saying Campbell is worth it because he scored two against Man City and would be worth 4.5m. I'm asking if you think Meyler would be worth an equivelant amount for a similarly impressive showing for us?

So you don't think that after his mate overspent and got sacked for it that MacKay had been told he wasn't likely to be given much to spend until he could show that the players he'd asked for in the first place were actually any good? And you don't think that then going public and saying he needed another 3 players because every part of his squad needed strengthening but that it would be down to the owners whether there'd be any money was an effort to put pressure on them to spend more?

And I'm saying that your analogy is irrelevant. Different players/different positions/different roles. Anyhow time to end this...ok?

Daniel Cousin scored against Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United. Was he worth £5m in your opinion?

How the **** is it equally irrelevant? You complained that Meyler wasnt a striker, so I gave you one.

Please Canada, no offense, but don't make bloody stupid statements without decent reasons to back it up.

****ity-bye.

Ok put me on ignore. This is just plain stupid. I won't keep trying to explain what I was saying as you apparently don't want to listen.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-50m-deals-cost-Malky-Mackay-Cardiff-job.html

"Among the signings which angered Tan was Cornelius.
The 20-year-old striker left FC Copenhagen, where he earned £6,000 a week, to sign a five-year contract at Cardiff worth £45,000 a week.
Cardiff paid a club-record £7.668m, possibly rising to £10.93m based on appearances. But he has come on just seven times as a substitute and played only 87 minutes of football since his move from the Danish champions. He has yet to score.
When Tan expressed surprise at the salary being paid to the untested Cornelius, he sought to impose a wage limit on new recruits, including midfielder Gary Medel.
Sevilla, who finished ninth in La Liga last season but who were struggling financially, sold Medel to Cardiff for £10m — though sources in Spain suggested Sevilla valued him at nearer £6m. The fee could rise to £15m, on appearances.

Thats a lot of ****ing money to spunk on an unknown and then not play him.

Some **** deals in there but it won't have been down to Mackay.

I never get this idea of owners telling managers they've spent too much. It's their money and they're meant to be in charge. Dont give hin a blank chequebook if you don't want him to use it.

And now he is telling the media that the new manager will be given 'extensive funds' to spend.

I don't think the overspend bothered him that much - he just wanted something to fire Mackay for that made Mackay sound like the villain.

I'm going against the grain here, but I'm starting to side with Tan.

Cardiff had been play-off contenders for a 3-4 seasons before Mackay went there - it only needed tweaking to be successful.
Mackay and Moody's inexperience has probably made them overspend in the transfer market and this has been their downfall.

This media love-in with Mackay has transferred itself to the average football fan and Tan is portrayed as the villain. But we all know
there are two side to every story and somewhere in the middle lies the truth.

I'm still only seeing Cornelius as a bad buy (of the big-money buys, that is). Yes, Medel and Caulker cost a lot - but they've both played very well indeed this season.

This is like those mongs who lambasted PB for what happened last time we were in the Prem.

Does the manager sign the cheques?

Who negotiates with the player's agent and his club?

That's not the manager's job and he won't have signatory authority on these big money transactions.

Scout or Director of Football spots them.

Manager says yes or no.

Finance or Senior Director ultimately 'authorises' financial side after the 'football' side has finished.

If any club is daft enough to let the 'football' men loose with the chequebook or negotiations, they're mental.

Now that NT is finished (his last game today), EA and his dad AA will be negotiating and signing the cheques in this forthcoming transfer window.

We were playoff contenders before Bruce came in, but everyone still agrees he did a brilliant job in getting us up. Cardiff had in fact been in and around the playoffs for what seemed like about 10 years but never got promoted. Mackay came in and did it in two years.
