Seriously? This is Sunderland, remember?

We lose the easy games we expect to win, just when we look poised to rack up some points and often kick start other struggling team's seasons in the process. Then beat the likes of Man City, Chelsea and Tottenham with stonking performances and generally do well against top half of the table teams, yet we struggle to get into the table 'comfort zone' every season.

If there's a watchword for this team this season, it's mercurial and I'll take a hairy-arse bet with anyone, this one's going to the wire. The blame rests with Ellis and PDC, he was a diabolical manager but he bought some new players that seem to have improved us.

I don't go along with all that **** tbh mate, I don't believe in 'bogey teams' or 'Shola is nailed on to score' ............ I just think it's all bollocks, no offence.

Poyet is gradually removing these handy excuses that the players fall back on and not before time.

Bruce and MON ran a social club and Di Canio tried to rip it apart too quickly.

We have 5 of 7 games at home in January and we have to throw off the 'this is Sunderland' mentally and get stuck into it every game, supporter & player alike <ok>

I agree 100%. I'm not superstitious, the universe does not take things out of my hands, Merson and Lawrenson do not affect the outcome of our matches and we don't have boogie teams. They're all just prearranged excuses often given out before the match even takes place.

From the Everton board, before the match,

"The centrepiece of their attack is Jozy Altidore on which mention of his name it’s appropriate to snigger at the back. He’s gonna be their big lump up front with his back assaulting our defenders with his back hoping to make the ball stick. Willing benefactors of that ball sticking are the two wide men Giaccherini and hot transfer target of the year for over ambitious clubs 2011 Adam Johnson. Impressed so far? You f*cking betcha.

Want to go toe to toe with Everton’s three in the middle? Course you do Sunderland – then welcome onto the pitch Ki, Larsson and the rum little bastard Cattermole who’s got it in his head that he’s third cock of the Premier League and has to keep up appearances every week the fat little sh*thouse. I hope our midfield do some targeted piping down of the chubbly little runt."

At long last there's some proof that Scousers really are funny, I'm loving reading their posts on http://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/63370-Everton-v-Sunderland-Boxing-Day-15-00/page69

"I don't mean to sound arsey mate, but I do think that possibly it is you who doesn't quite understand that if a team put 11 men behind the ball, in their own half, for 60 odd minutes, it is extremely difficult to be creative and score goals."

I'm assuming he missed Seb's chance, Ki's chance and Fletcher's absolute sitter <doh>

Mannone made a few decent saves but it was hardly the Alamo was it?

Their chances were long range shots that Mannone laughed at yet they kept doing the same thing all match.

Not just that you didn't expect it, you were claiming a few days back that our games were 'unwinnable' ............ what a mug <doh>

You said our games were unwinnable and you were proved wrong at the first opportunity.

You were wrong, simple as that.
