Wouldn't be surprised to see Bruce return to the 4-4-2 tomorrow with Meyler out and no adequate CMF substitute. Sounds like McG and Bruce are also out. I'd drop Figueroa who has been poor and leave Koren on the bench. Obviously a key game for us to put some daylight between us and the relegation places. 2-1 win. For me... Harper Rosenior Chester Davies Macca Elmo Livermore Thudd Boyd Sagbo Gedo Jakupovic Faye Figueroa Brady Koren Graham Fryatt
Figgy on the bench, replaced by McShane in a back four? Between this and the Campbell suggestion, I'm hoping you're pissed.
I had been thinking of writing something similar! Fair enough Figgy hasn't been on his best form lately - but he's clearly less comfortable at LWB than he is at LB in a back four. If you switch to a back four, you have to pick him as he's our only fit LB. If you're going to play Macca at LB you might as well stick Danny Graham between the sticks and throw Chester up front (two goals in his last game, remember). I hate the round pegs/square holes business - it's where Phil Brown eventually went wrong back in 2009.
Listening Bruce on You tube, he just got a kick on the calf and said he thought he would be OK, but Meyler and McGregor are out. If so I would go for the following 442. Harper Chester Bruce Davies Rossy Elmo Huddlestone Livermore Boyd Sagbo Graham.
Perfectly sober. Its breakfast time in LA and I've just had a nice Sausage McMuffin meal at Mickey D's. Why is the Campbell suggestion so outrageous to you. He's exactly the type of player we need to pair with Sagbo. You don't think he'd be a huge improvement over Graham/Fryatt. ? Ok I got the price wrong but you think Cardiff would let him go for what they paid? As for Figueroa he has been poor the past two games at least. Macca can play anywhere in a back four. He was in fine form before his latest injury. Why not put him in the line up. He and Davies are also a real threat in the box on set pieces.
If Meyler is injured I expect Koren to fill in, or we revert to 442; Harper Rosie Chester Davies Figgy Elmo Livermore Thudd Boyd Sagbo Graham It would be nice to see Brady back for this one...
I would take FC over Graham, but the FC ship has sailed, I think we should move on and there are better players out there. McShane is okay at centre back, he was ****e at right back and **** knows what he'd be like at left back. None of which matters, as there's zero chance of Macca replacing Figgy as a left back.
McGregor and Meyler being out are both problematic. There simply isn't a replacement for Meyler. Boyd looks good when he gets a chance, I can't see him being picked for the CM role but that's what I'd do. I think we look miles better playing the 3-5-2.
I thought we were lacking a left footer in the centre against United, with Valencia and Janujaz being 2 on 1 with Figueroa very often, so having Boyd could give us more balance in that area. Looking forward to Quinn and Brady both being back up to fitness, they worked so well together in the 3-5-2 on the left.
FFS where has the stupid term 'putting in a shift' come from. A shift is usually a minimum of 8 hours. The overpaid footballers don't do a ****ing shift.
I'd go Harper Chester Mcshane Davies Elmo Livermore Huddlestone Koren Brady (If close to fit, if not boyd) Sagbo Fryatt Eldin rosie Bruce boyd(brady ) Gedo Wilson Proschwitz
If Bruce sticks with Figgy and graham he's lost the plot! those two are absolutely hopeless at the mo, Fryatt and Rosy need to come in for them.
The same level of performance without the mistakes and Hull City will Win. Fulham are no Man Ut With McGregor and Meyler almost certain to be out i would go with Harper and Boyd and Rosie if Bruce Fails to make it.
The problem is we fail to maintain that level. We can look great against Man U and ****e against Palace. I expect the game to be another scrappy affair.
I think part of the problem is that Bruce doesn't make changes to the team. I reckon apart from injuries we'll be unchanged today, then he'll complain about how many games we've played.
I agree - I expected us to bust a gut against Man Utd and cone away with nothing, then turn up against Fulham having knackered ourselves out and put in a scrappy, below-par performance like against Palace and Stoke.
I've got a bad feeling about today, worry about what's left In the tank. Hope I'm wrong but If we keep relying on our CBs to score we are gonna struggle.
Read this thread back after yesterdays result. Some real gems there. One or two could be clairvoyents.
