Nice to see a smile on his face, but I still think he's got a long way to go, not just for the wounds to heal, but also to get back to full fitness. I'm no doctor, but I don't think he can be targeting a 2011 return.
Cheers Forza. Good to see Red Bull stealing someone else's idea with the front wing mounts. Both Vettel and Webber ran the new wing in the race despite DC saying that Vettel had to run the old one after his crash. I noticed the hole at the back of the engine cover is now smaller. Anyone seen Ferrari's engine cover? It now has a hole running right the way down the centre of it, rather than the circular one they had in Monaco. please log in to view this image
Wow, what a race. I wasnt here for the reaction as I went to the pub and came home at like 11:35pm... Great drive by Jenson. As a Lewis fan gutted, but that was one of the greatest drives I have ever seen. Up there with Hamilton 2008 Britian and Alonso Korea 2010. Vettel finally cracked under pressure and Schumacher proved me and many others wrong. With the Lewis - Mark incident ... Lewis`s Fault. Hamilton - Button - Racing incident. Alonso vs Button - Alonso as he should have yielded. That was one of the greatest races I have ever seen. Classic Stuff.
Why should he have yielded? The way I see it, he gave Button enough space on the inside and Button still hit him. Without contact, Alonso would've had the inside line for the chicane exit and therefore stayed ahead of Button.
That chicane is hard enough turning in by yourself, and I look at that like The Schumacher - Kubica incident in 2010. Fernando didnt have the inside he knew Button was on turn in and he needed to turn in as well which means contact. What he should have done is cut the chicane and given the place back after the next chicane.
Sums it up, although I'm pretty sure Alonso didn't accelerate, just lifted off the brakes, which amounts to the same thing. Button had the corner when they were wheel to wheel and Alonso tried an audacious move round the outside.
Brundle has said it was Button's fault, but he's said Button was no more than half way up the inside, which isn't true, so I assume he hasn't looked at it again.
I think last time it worked quite well leaving this thread up until about wednesday to let people pick over the race, and then putting the new one up, so that Montreal chat doesn't spread into the Valencia thread.
Well seeing that Button had a FRONT puncture and Alonso's BACK wheel got hit. You cannot be in the right mind to blame Alonso. It was a race incident and Alonso was stupidly unlucky (not for the first time ever)
Oh that incident, I reckon it was an incident, Alonso and Button were both stubborn here and rightfully so, Alonso will come back fighting though, fiery spaniard.
I wondered if many people were holding on for post 1000, I'm heading out shortly, so I doubt I'll get it!
