It is the if that means we could do better for the money though. I'd be saying we could do better than Messi if Messi was the kind of player that could only manage 3 games a season.

Maybe Bruce is gonna say a few nice things about other strikers to make WBA,s mind up if they want rid of long or not? Bruce is very clever in the transfer market! He know what to say and when to say it!

    This ^

...as well as being transfer savvy he is, and I know it's been said before, superb with the media, 'that' interview that he gave after the WBA match will live looooong in the memory.

    Steve Bruce = media legend!

edit:- I suspect that Poyet would be happy to see a non playing Fletcher leave so that he can replace him with Ulloa and probably still have change.

He's not that good, is he?

I think you're best taking a punt on a foreigner.

That's an assumption by the Mirror because he hadn't played for two games. Thing is, if they'd bothered to check previous line ups they'd have seen the he's been rotated with Jozy, in fact, despite the article being published after yesterdays results, they still failed to realise that he started against Everton.

Have you seen what we've got at the moment?

Anything that strengthens our squad and weakens an opponent is worth considering.

There is one issue for Fletcher though, if we sign him he's presumably going to want a longer contract than the one he's on now. When was the last time we offered a player a contract that was for over 3 years? (he's got 2 1/2 left, so for longer it'd need to be 3 1/2)

I would also just avoid strikers that have been signed by Sunderland. They have an appalling track record Graham, Fletcher, Altidore, Borini. They have paid well over the odds for mediocre players.

Borini is only on loan and hasn't looked that bad.

I know you've got it and have had it bad with strikers.

But I really don't think that overpaying for another out of form striker is the key for you.

Record bid?? They must be joking. Peanut Brittle man...gets a knock on his shoulder and he's done for half the season. Would never pass our medical anyways. Good in the air but no pace.

This must be a non-starter, not worth a punt IMO.

Jozy has been by far the better of the two.

.......But there have been some good 'uns: Raich Carter, Charlie Buchan, Kevin Phillips, Niall Quinn, Brian Clough.....not the current crop I'd agree.
