Man United complete signing of Phil Jones from Blackburn on five-year deal "Manchester United is delighted to announce it has signed an agreement with Blackburn Rovers for the transfer of Phil Jones." http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-F...11/Jun/manchester-united-seal-jones-deal.aspx Thoughts:
My thought are absolute astonishment that you have finally posted something that is actually happening.... Keep up the good work Also pretty happy with the signing
And with the Red Devils refusing to budge beyond the figure, believed to be £16.5million, that triggered a buyout clause in the 19-year-old's contract, Blackburn have been forced to agree a sale.
I can't honestly think why we would have gone over £16.5 million. The only thing Venky's could try and claim is that we tapped Jones up to find out what the release clause was. Two problems with that: 1) It was Liverpool who made the first offer, triggering the release clause. United only went in for him after Liverpool had already made the offer, by which point the value of the release clause would have been public knowledge. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/philmcnulty/2011/06/englands_finest.html 2) When Liverpool tapped up Christian Ziege in 2002 to find the value of his release clause, they got fined £20,000. Why would we offer another £x million just to avoid a £20,000 fine that probably won't even apply? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/eng_prem/1872311.stm
Our young defence Fabio Jones Smalling Rafael Not bad and then you have the 20 year old De Gea in goal soon
err we paid less then £17m and you paid how much for Henderson, and Kenny was willing to pay £22m for Jones I believe
Apparantly BBC Sport and SSN is wrong as liverpool never made any offers for Jones, this comes from Dilusional Doyler..
To be honest these prices are too high. Henderson would not even make Barca B yet he is 16-20m? Jones should have cost much less as well. 10M would be too high in my opinion as well.
The homegrown player squad rules add at least 50% to the already inflated prices for young English players.
Nice try chief: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jun/08/jordan-henderson-liverpool-sunderland http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/13685517.stm Oh, and if Scott Dann's so much better, why did you only go for him after Jones rejected you?
