Is anyone else watching SSN now? What a bloody racket going on in the background in the bloody studio!!
I'd have sacked him. He's spent 50m, had 1 win in 8 and the joint most league losses. He's been **** but the media have made him look hard done by. I'd have sacked him, without a doubt.
100% this. I always thought he was doing a good job on limited resources*, but when you scratch the surface, all's not as it seems. He reminds me of Moyes and Hollowhead in some ways, found his level but when he was pushed on to greater things, found wanting, and turns out he's a whiney cheating twat too (Moyes, not Mackay). If Mackay goes to a Championship club with money, I think he'll do ok, but he's just another Hollowhead in the PL. *Limited resources - I didn't realise just how much he'd spent. AKCJ is spot on with his assessment.
He is at a newly promoted club, you can't expect them to be challenging for the title. I'd have taken their position for us, at the start of the season.
Lewis, I think the problem is, he's spent 50m quid, and they're struggling, 1 point above the relegation zone, and after being told he wouldn't be allowed more money in Jan, announced he wanted 3 more players in Jan. After overspending by 15m quid. Even to Tan, I suspect 15m is a lot of money, and think about it, that over spend would have bought us a striker. He spent more than 3 times that and they're struggling like hell. I don't expect them to be challenging for the title but after the money they spent I would expect them to be at least 5 or 6 places higher.
Which is fair until you compare the resources available. He started with a better squad than us (they won the league remember), spent more than 4 times as much as us, and they're still no better than us.
I think people are overstating our position. We're 3 points ahead of them and yes they've spent a lot £35m or so. But Mackay isn't the person who deals with the signings, same as at Tottenham.
And same as here. The manager picks the players, then others go and do the deals. He picked players that cost 4 times what ours have cost us and broke his budget, whilst we've shown if he'd picked the right players they could have got the same performance for much less. Ahead of a transfer window would you want to leave things to MM when he'd been shown not to be able to spot the value for money players and he's questioning your position.
As Cardiff slide into the relegation zone, with the club and managerial situation in disarray, FC must be reassessing his future. As in our promotion season he could be the missing link for us. He's always had the breakaway speed and goal scoring ability but he's added real strength in the air from what I've seen of him this year. He and Sagbo, backed up by Thudds passing and play making, could transfer our scoring potential. Would far rather roll the boat out for him than the ponderous Rhodes. 7.5 mill. anyone.????
His Premier League record is 10 in 83 games, 3 in 15 this season(and 2 were in one game). I'd give £750k for him, but you'd have to be deranged to pay £7.5m for him.
Before this season was that games he started or included late subs when he was coming back from injuries.? In the games I've seen him play this season he's been really impressive, especially in the air. Much stronger and even faster than when he played for us. Mackay paid 7.5 mill. for him I believe.
