Forest not won at home in months. Andy Reid always scores against us. 4 wins out of 12. Austin out for a while and no other decent strikers at the club. Watford up next. Harry get your act together.
I actually think the team's just lacking a bit of cohesiveness. No great problems, just missing a killer pass and requiring a bit more direct play. Small details; not great chasms.
family sick all christmas, weather so bad the electric keeps going off and then sitting through that rubbish. No commitment, never first to the ball, predictable, lazy and just generally p**s poor. Never mind the 'controversial' second goal, one is enough to beat us because we are so unlikely to score. F**k perspective that was awful.
This isnt an overreaction to 1 or 2 losses. This has happened all season bar the odd good half here and there. The record clean sheet run had put us in a false position and we are now sinking to where we deserve to be. The manager is doing a shocking job, I realise he cant be sacked but I will be celebrating should he leave.
We looked so far off the pace it was embarasing.....no desire, no will to win, no shape, no strikers to replace Austin, lightweight in midfield, over complicate things by trying to walk the ball into the net, no cutting edge. Plus the bloody cricket is woeful and we are in the middle of a Violent Storm Force 11 battering....... Happy New Year....
I think it's all too easy to lay into HR after a bad result. The table doesn't lie after five months of the season. I agree at times we have been prosaic and have won. Tonight's first half was a carbon copy of the Blackpool match and because we won, it was forgotten. I agree that there's a lack of urgency and pressing at times. That's evident. But this can be addressed fairly simply without overreacting. Barton and Austin have been almost ever present and their return will be welcome and a settled midfield would be of benefit too.
The same players that were united and emphasised the evident team spirit vs Reading? I'm confused. Either they're united and playing for one another. Or the shirt waving was all a charade.
When we suffered Sven Goran Erikssen we had the exact same problem. We had a side just like yours now with players with PL experience but monstrous egos. We'd flatten the odd side based on technical ability but when the going got tough they didn't show up. Someone on here called our side 'a bunch of nobodys' the other day. Well, after experiencing both sides of the coin I have to say we're in a much better position now that we're shot of the big time charlies. We're showing a gritty resilience at the moment. The type of attitude that has gotten a lot of sids promoted in this league. Not least Cardiff and Hull from last season. I still think you'll go up, because you've got an owner who is daft enough to let Redknapp spunk his money up the wall. You'll sign a striker in Jan and you'll finally have two that can play off each other. I was amazed when Zamora was taken off (I know he's ****) but him and Johnson could have caused Forest problems as a little and large combo. Johnson looked like Austin last week. Lost, lonely and cut off.
Some of them looked so bilious, bloated and uncomfortable, I'd swear my Mrs had sneaked in and done the team catering.
Not a bad 2nd half, we didn't give ourselves a chance to start strongly in the first though. Harry said at HT that he only wanted to give AJ 30 mins because he's still not fit? Sounds like he couldn't have been started. Re Chevanton, his 3 month loan had expired. We couldn't extend that another 3 months for the sake of a couple of games until the Transfer window opens. He'd then be sitting around sucking up cash when the inevitable new striker comes in. It's unfortunate, particularly considering Austin has been injured the game after Chevanton's departure- but I don't think the Uruguayan leaving can be a point of criticism.
If you seriously think that there are "no great problems" after watching that, you need to take a big dose of reality!!
Our performance was beyond horrible and because of that even my forest-fan mate wasn't fully proud of their win. Todays performance reminded me of last season with the guttles performaces and "dont give a **** attitudes"
Ok, let me rephrase it. We need to make some adjustments. Agreed. But it's crass to suggest that we have some major crisis on our hands. Contrast the start to our season with that of Bolton Wanderers, then look at the league table as it stands now. I know which team I'd rather be supporting. So yes. It was turgid first half. Made worse by the usual incompetence of the officials. We lost. Away to Forest. Let's move on, get the recording of the match analysed and work on those areas where were deficient with a view to getting it right in the next match. Alternatively, let's sack the manager and call into question the ability and desire of the players and coaching staff....
