I am very much encouraged by some of the positive views on our goal drought, and although I would love Bony to come good second half, anyone have concerns on his first touch to kill the ball? Every time he gets a fast pass through a tight channel, it always seems to bounce back off him?

I too have realised that with certain passes he lacks the ability to control the ball.

I don't think he's done that bad. 4 goals and one assist in 712mins (8 full matches) is ok considering he's only playing part of matches. A striker needs to play to score goals, he needs to be believed in.
Then it comes to his touch, it seems not so bad compared to our other players... I think he holds up the ball well. The problem seems to be that we don't play to his strengths...

Well, he wins more than his fair share of balls at head at chest height, holds the defender off turns with the ball or lays it off ,something we have always been rubbish at with our players .

If you study Bony a bit closer the ms controlled balls are very often because he is trying to move FORWARD not back toward the midfield, its not so much his touch as his natural movement to want to get beyond his marker his body is then not sometimes placed correctly to control it and he falls between two stools so to speak .

Again we go back to the point of him not perhaps being played to his strengths and him not knowing what the fck our midfielders are going to do with the ball.

How many times do we see Bony move near post and our winger hit it far post(or out of play) or bony move far post and the winger hits it near post !!

A classic example of how good this player is at making space in the box is the goal shelvey set him up for against stoke, he moves in as shelvey approaches takes the efender with him then moves out to give him a clear space leaving the defender out of position, shelvey gives the right pass ,bang back of the net with a perfectly placed finish !

Shelvey is more used to finding players that use clever movement off the ball in tight spaces, suarez being a good example of this, some of our players are not either good enough or not intelligent enough to think this way, they do the paint by numbers approach or try an impossible tight pass into an area full of players,if they study Bony and the way he tries to move they will be able to see his strengths more clearly .

As i have said on jackarmy.net you need to ask why we are not playing to this guys strengths more often,we saw it for 45 mins against stoke where Bony suddenly was totally unplayable and looked every inch a top level striker, there are issues down at the liberty regarding this, Huw Jenkins signed this player in conjunction with Laudrup but he is being asked to learn things that perhaps will take him longer to master and at the same time he is curtailing his natural game to try and fit our system a bit better .

Bony second half stoke is what we bought. Why we arnt playing to his strengths is a question many people are asking at the Liberty .

Nothing much wrong with his touch its more to do with him learning to play a different way and getting caught out by his own natural game which is to move forward and score goals not drop off and flick the ball to an invisable man running past him.
