We have 11 players out of contract this summer, although I can hear a lot of you shouting let some of these go now and get them off our books thatâs fine but others have been key to our success this and previous seasons. In my opinion itâs a very stupid and dangerous game to play. Players like Kasper, Wes, Nugent & Dyer have all been key players for many seasons. We know that January is looming just a few days away with many clubs wishing to strengthen their sides and to lose them for a few quid just when things to me are look good for Promotion this season would be foolish beyond belief. Let not forget how much promotion would be worth to us this season around £90 million. I just hope there is a Pearson master plan that I am not aware of and everything is under control and will turn out alright in the end!
Konch, Whitbread, St. Ledger, Waggy & Danns can go now, imo. We could free up the wages & look for new players to help with the push, but NP, JS, WM & some of the others are needed. Are we going to shot ourselves in the foot yet again ?
Until we know where we will be playing football next year, i don't think we can realistically tie these players down. If they hold off signing a Championship contract and we get promoted, they will sign on a Premiership pay contract. If we don't go up, then they will have little hassle in leaving for prem clubs for free. The only person that i think this will apply to is Schmeichel imo. I think due to Morgan, Nugents and Dyers age, they prob won't be taken by a prem club anyway and will sign new contracts regardless of promotion or not. The only thing that could happen, with Billy Davies back at Forest, is that we lose Wes back to them for free.
Wes wants to sign so i cant understand that one. Nuge probably depends on the division in terms of wages Kasper just shouldnt stay in the championship anymore. Dyer is also a strange one...
