I think the Spurs match could have been the final nail in the Fox Southampton Career coffin. Being substituted and having your position covered by an 18 year old who has never played at left back is pretty damning. If we had no plans to go in the January transfer window then that may have changed as Hooiveld and Yoshida have not covered themselves in glory
Fox wasn't that bad against Spurs I didn't think. Hooiveld was shocking. When they play together, we just seem to be all over the place at the back though and leak goals.
It was a joint effort. Hooiveld's own goal was his doing alone, but most of the other problems generally involved both Fox and Hooiveld out of position. The third goal was just awful...Fox was standing by his lonesome several feet from the nearest player as Adebayor moved inside of him, while Hooiveld got dragged out on the pass without in any way affecting the play.
When I say Fox wasn't that bad, I mean he wasn't as bad as he sometimes is. Not much of a complement and they are liabilities.
