Both prone to little injuries and niggles. Shaw always seems to be ill. Neither get many assists or goals. Both solid defensively. However, I wouldn't have any of the Saints defenders in your team at the moment.
I'm stuck with one! I noticed Shaw has a tendency to pick up late injuries, I'll go for Shaw (Cheers Qwerty, as Clyne hasn't started for a couple of games!
Some young people are more prone to colds and infections than older players...he should grow out of it. They also do not take chances with injuries in the modern player...in the past a player would carry on if the bone break wasn't too severe. The modern player is treated like a valuable race horse. Just had a thought...perhaps Cortese should consider breeding players for the Academy. Lambert could be put to stud when he's too old to play.
That is a good point! I expect for the large majority, Shaw could play as when he misses one game he is back the next. Micah Richards has never grown out of his injury problems, although I expect he has other problems! either way Shaw is overly protected and that is a reflection of the modern way of looking after players the right way.
I would like to see a few changes for the game against Cardiff. Rod up front with Lallana and rameirz behind. Cork, spider and Davis in midfield. Shaw plus Fonte I into the back four with Davis back in goal!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoA6p51_MTA Apologies if already posted, but this short video shows both Boruc and Davis in goal in training with their gloves on, must be good news. Boruc may be back for the Chelsea game on New Years Day I would hope/think!
From this you can infer that it's at least 3 players with personal problems - he doesn't say a player or a couple of players. Bit weird to me and why mention it at all if you're not going to expand? The news that Clyne, Shaw and Fonte could be back makes me feel happier! Will SKD replace Gazza?
How has the weather been there, any danger of a postponement? I think the personal problems line was mentioned because after the Hooiveld error against Newcastle(though he was ok apart) people must have been asking why either Yoshida or Fonte were not back in the side or taken off the bench with us struggling. This gives some background to that decision.
Or, better yet, we could play a keeper that might actually give us a chance of progressing to the next round
How has the weather been there, any danger of a postponement? Very much doubt it, it's been a lovely day here today
Match day folks! And I for one am not confident I think the atmosphere will be right behind the player and the manager after all the recent mess. 2-1 Cardiff -.-
This game has become increasingly important as our bad run continues, two points out of the last eighteen! Must stop TODAY...three points against a club in crisis!
I wouldn't bank on the "crisis" having as significant an impact on the pitch as you'd like to believe. The off-field stuff wont affect the players out there one bit in an adverse sense, in fact it's more likely that they'll be all the more up for it. I'm more concerned that Malky will stick to his preffered defensive gameplan so far this season and show you too much respect (no offence meant). Man City, Man U and Everton couldn't beat us at the CCS, so I suppose he's been on the money so far, but we have the potential to hold a higher line and press the opposition in their own half, rather than funnelling back all the time. If it's more of the same again, I can see this a draw all over, but I've got a sneaky suspicion that Malky and the lads will set out to prove something today and change it about. I'm not the best with predictions usually, but I've gone for a 2-0 home win for this one - a bit more pushing forward on the front foot, with Marshie and our back 5 (Medel is the fifth defender just in front of Caulker/Turner) doing the biz for a clean sheet. Honest opinion?..........If you win it, I'll be very surprised.
