I expect more than just a sloppy kiss ....

Of course, nothing is set in stone until they sign the contract and pose in a number of leaning fashions - but I do think we can see 3-4 players coming in. In a perfect world, 2 midfielders, 1 full back, 1 attacker.

Midfielders can be - M'Vila/Fernando/Banega (this name has popped up again!)
    Attacker is most likely Salah
Fullback is still up in the air.

3 or 4 might be too many at once, imo, regardless of quality. It might upset the rhythm, and we're going well at the moment.
Too often even good players take time, Spuds are the current best example.
Don't get me wrong, you can (almost) always improve on individuals, but I don't want us to upset the balance of the team with too many changes. I don't really think there's too much wrong with the defence that some better organisation wouldn't improve.
DM is a must for me, but I don't want us to buy just for the sake of being seen to be doing something.

not sure on fullback, maybe something that can wait until Summer as Flanno is doing a good enough job covering and Enrique and Cissokho cant be injured or crap all season can they, if they are just hope Flanno is good enough to cover for rest of season, but he has done well so far.

midfield and attack for me is more important at the moment.

Not sure how long Enrique is out for, but it will take him to get back up to full fitness. Cissokho isn't fancied and I reckon he will go back to Valencia. And Flanno is doing a decent enough job. Before Enrique was injured, Rodgers wanted a new left back.

Not only that, Johnson needs competition as well.

But I agree - I would say midfield needs boosting now. But so does our defence. I would say our attack is extremely good in it's current state - Suarez, Coutinho and Sturridge will score regardless.

But we are seriously struggling at the back. A strong midfield will help protect the defence in the more tighter games.

i think you are right but i do think that a swing of only 2 or 3 games either way could also be called luck or bad luck on a one off basis.

however as you point out if rodgers gets a higher total (which there is no for sure yet either way) then it starts to look like a trend.

our trend was 7th 6th 7th under different managers yeah? thats i think a measure in reality of being also rans in a big way.

As for this year? consistency is absent to some extent but the point tally of 36 form 19 (which could be 40+ from 19) still indicates a 80-85 points winner... which is not unusual. Everyone needs to improve after christmas to push on and the title is only WON after christmas. we're just positioned well right now.

If rodgers can deliver 70 points then like AVB at spurs he might be unlucky or not. if he delivers 80 points its huge for us.

I have to be honest and say i never expected this from us... i knew the second half of last season went well, and was hopeful of europa league, but i thought the spuds would be better, and also thought moyes would have managed a few better signings with united's money...

Have to admit i thought everton would be a little further down the table as they struggled to adapt to their new gaffer's philosophies, but he has them playing very well...
