I called you out on making bullshit quotes that nobody had said. So you then respond by talking about Wenger.

And you accuse me of diverting attention.

    You're an Idiot

You were called out on something, don't try to divert attention from it. Or are you a hypocrite like you accuse others of being?

If there's one positive from today, it's that we didn't concede, and when you concede 6 in the last game, to keep a clean sheet is an automatic positive, plus TV looked very good, so not the end of the world to have Kos out for now.

But overall, poor game from us. Chelsea only created one chance on their own when Lampard hit the post, other than that, their chances were a result of us cheaply giving the ball away, in the entire 90 minutes, Chelsea never once gave the ball away cheaply as we did to let us almost score.

They look pretty decent at the moment, got a good run of momentum behind them.

It's pointless trying to have a debate with somebody like GBA. He offers nothing, just spouts off meaningless crap and then tries to make stupid accusations that have no basis. It just reads like a silly teenager mouthing off with absolutely no substance.

I don't mind debating with the more negative fans, even when I don't agree with everything that's being said, at least most people have some insight into the game and will offer suggestions and opinions that make me think. I like to be challenged and have my opinion questioned, that's what makes this forum interesting. But this meaningless soundbite BS is just boring.

In an ideal world, we'd be one week away from signing a striker.

I thought our passing was dire tonight. I know the conditions didn't help but honestly, this is a team that is famed for it's crisp and incisive passing and we were just hitting balls over the top out of play and misplacing passes to the opposition. That said, a clean sheet is a plus and despite the BS that GBA wants to try and accuse me of, I'm glad we didn't end up losing this game, because in the past it was the type of game we would have shot ourselves in the foot with going gung-ho in the last 5 mins.

Agree and disagree. Agree that our passing was dire, but a clean sheet was a good thing, disagree about the whole gung-ho thing though. We should have won that game, Giroud had 2 chances to win it, failed miserably on the first, got blocked on the second. If we'd made some subs, we could have won, that's where a lot of the negativity is coming from, Wenger in theory cost us a win today.

Also we didn't learn anything new tonight that we didn't already know. We need a top quality striker who will make the difference in these sorts of games. Wenger is obviously trying to address the issue as he made bids for Higuan and Suarez in the summer and without going into the rights and wrongs about those bids, it's clear that it's a priority. Let's hope we can address it in January, but to be honest, the summer is probably more likely to yield the type of striker that we need.

Difficult to say whether the subs would have won us the game, but I would have liked to have seen Podolski come on and at least be given the chance. That said, the chance at the end that Giroud had blocked was only down to some great defending from Cech and Terry, a split second later and Giroud would have scored and people would be singing his praises. That's speculative as is 'the subs would have won the game' theory. But what you can say for sure is that Giroud should have buried the earlier chance.

I'd just be happy with a stopgap for the second half of the season, just a good striker who can hit the target, and isn't scarily one footed. Most one footed players occasionally have a go with their weaker foot, Giroud never tries with his right.

In one sense I was with Wenger on not making subs, the balance was right, and maybe bringing someone like Cazorla for Rosicky would make us weaker defensively, as I think Rosicky does better work at defending than most of the other attacking midfielders in the team. One could argue Walcott could have been taken off as he wasn't doing much, but then again, with Walcott you never know, with his pace, all you need is a good ball and a good play and there's the potential.

So while a lot of people were clamouring for subs, I wasn't among them....But for me that also shows a weakness for Arsenal and especially from Wenger's mindset, that he doesn't have enough trust to bring on new players during such a big tight game.

We could have, it could have ended up like the Dortmund match. I thought Rozza might have been taken off and I'd have done it but in the end not making the sub neither helped nor hurt us.
Our defense looked solid but our passing was poor today. I'd shake things up for WHU.
Same Back 5 (Kos in for Verm if he's ready)
    Flamini Ramsey
    Cazorla
    Theo Podolski Gnabry

I think a loan deal is out best bet in January, I've been saying that for a while. Although I'd like to see Podolski given a chance at CF too.

I thought Verm was good, i'd keep him in for WHU. I'd go:

    Szczesny
    Sagna Mertesacker Vermaelen Gibbs
    Flamini Rosicky
    Walcott Cazorla Podolski
    Bendtner

If it stops us from getting a CF, then i don't want Poldi as a CF. if we sign a CF AND consider Poldi as a CF, then i'm all for it. The Potato has been poor since the Southampton game in November, any other team and he would have been dropped by now. I'd start Bendtner over him right now, whilst Poldi comes back to fitness, and it gives the Potato time to sit on the bench and think about where he's going wrong.

True. Don't trust Bendy and I think Gnabry deserves some match time. WHU aren't **** but they're still pretty poor so this is a good game for him to play in.

    This <ok>

The reason Walcott and Rosicky were on the pitch was as much about offering defensive cover on the flanks as it was for their attacking play. Making subs like bringing on Santi or pushing Ramsey out to the wing for Flamini in the middle could equally have cost us the game through lack of tracking back on the flanks.

I think people concentrate too much on what's needed going forward when thinking about subs, but the game is about attacking and defending. That's why I said I'm glad we didn't lose. That said, I would have liked to see Podolski given a chance tonight, but as already mentioned, but for some great last ditch defending Giroud would have scored at the end.

I'm not picking Gnabry because he made a stupid error against Citeh that cost us a penalty and a goal, again, having him on the bench gives him time to reflect on his error and work on improving.

Not for me. He still plays relatively well in games even when he doesn't score and I think he offers a lot more than Bendtner, who is pretty decent on a cross, but offers very little else.
