According to John Percy there could be January sales with a lot of players frustrated about lack of movement over new contracts Obviously there will be a lot of interest in Kasper Schmeichel and Wes Morgan but the rest will attract some but will be easier to keep hold of. Nigel Pearson needs a new deal ASAP in my opinion while we should offer Lloyd Dyer, Kasper Schmeichel, Wes Morgan and David Nugent 12 month extensions. Everyone else should have to wait until the summer to either earn a new deal or to be let go then. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...ster-City-facing-January-transfer-exodus.html If this is true we need to sort something ASAP. Our proven performers deserve new deals and it's in our best interest to give them contracts Other out of contract players are Paul Konchesky, Zak Whitbread, Sean St. Ledger, Martyn Waghorn, Neil Danns, Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Marcin Wasilewski
I'd keep Wes, Dyer and Kasper at all costs. Would sell Nugent if an offer of 1m plus came in and wouldn't worry about the rest.
Any fooker who wants to go ....let them, if they think they can do better than us good luck! they are fookin deluded
Seems abit strange to me having so many players contracts running down at the same time. Granted most are bit part players but what are LC´s plans in the summer ? Are they going to let most go on a free ? Are they going to buy about 6 or 7 new players (a risk as they need time to gel) I´d say both. KS will be a loss as would WM, DN has, maybe, had his time. Dyer is still doing a job but the rest can leave for me. Worse case they all go (whether we go up or not) we could have a problem getting in the right players & as said, getting them to play together. If we´re still in the champ´ship & we have a bad start, say 10 games in, it´ll be endex for NP. If we´re in the prem (if) & we´re rock bottom then like wise. I think LC & NP are walking on thin ice with this contract situ. I´m not sure if I´m missing the big picture here but I for one am abit worried, it just seems odd. I can understand 2 or 3 but so many ? Mind you I not sure of each indivisual case tbh does LC want to wait on giving them a contract or does the player want to wait to see where LC are next season ? If the article is correct we could fall quicker than a slapper from Nottinghams knickers on a weekend. Could be the start of the end of our season ???
It'd probably be more a case of thinking they need to sort themselves out with a club for next season if you're not looking like giving them a deal. Particularly fringe players will be thinking they'd better get themselves sorted because they're not likely to become a PL player if they're only on the fringes this year. On the plus side (in some cases), unless you think Celtic might want them you do have to ask yourself which of the out of contract players would be attracting attention from abroad. Unless their club gives them permission English based players can't discuss terms with English based clubs until either you've played your last game of the season, or they've entered the last month of their contracts, so you're not going to be having them doing a deal with any of your rivals without the club sanctioning talks.
Kasper will attract interest from across europe so its a very dangerous game to let his contract run into the last 6 months
Im on the fence regarding contracts ... If we implode like last season, i think Pearson will not have his contract renewed, ergo a new manager would be coming in with alot of flexibility in regards to signing the players they want. As i said in the other thread, i don't think contracts will be sorted until we have a better idea of what league we will be in next year. If we lose Wes or Schmeichel, you can't say we didn't get value for money from them
Right we have all had our views on what the club should do but what about the players They are STILL undef contract and STILL getting paid. While were top of the league but the players need to stop complaining and perform for their new contracts. Their not going to get them by crying about them. While I dont like the clubs position that we have put ourselves in I understand it. We dont want to give prem wages to players if we dont go up and we might not want to offer certain players contracts if were in the prem. Keep performing and if they really want to stay come the end of the season if we get promoted im sure they will get their contracts if they deserve it
CONSPIRACY THEORY Is NP screwing the club over? Knows he wont get a new contract if we dont go up and so wont offer the likes of Wes a new contract so that if he goes straight into a new job he can sign these players who like playing for him on a free. Knows if we go up then they will sign anyway but has no care if we dont as it wont involve him so purely wants them working harder to make us go up rather than look at whats best for the clubs long term future... just a thoery...
Its unlikely that Pearson will be able to walk into a new job after his contract expires, managers are usually in place before this time for the next season, plus it would have to be a club similar to us in regards to position, prospects, funds.
I find it highly unlikely Nigel is looking beyond this season. He gets us up he gets a new contract. There might even be a clause in his contract to say that He gets a 1M bonus if he gets us up
We'll have Kasper please. Top keeper and too good fr this league just send an e-mail to "uncle tony" telling us how much you want & he'll get it out his kids piggybank in the morn Ta!
