I don't think it is strong. Folk do want expressions of Republicanism to be eradicated. It is sad imo. The club will suffer.
there can still be a strong Irish connection and even a strong social consciousness... Without the need for bringing republicanism into it...reasons explained in other thread.
Probably not...just voicing my opinion... I don't agree with it, the Irish political side a lot of Scottish Celtic fans worship at... A lot feel the same...it does not project a good image...

I'm not Irish nor even 3rd or 4th generation...but I can understand why those of an Irish Republican view point gravitate towards the club The argument of politics in football seems stupid to me because to have a rival you must be different from them in some way and football, like politics, is a mostly non violent way of showing how your difference is better
Fair enough. I hold a similar view of the British army but apart from laugh at them I couldn't give a fiddlers if rangers or anyone else wants to celebrate them.
