Playing on a Monday really is frustrating, especially when you see all your rivals win. Big pressure on our boys and hopefully they can deal with it and go top at XMAS, which would be brilliant.

Without having to think too hard I'd have all these above Giroud...
    Rooney
    RVP
    Suarez
    Sturridge
    Aguero
    Negredo
    Lukaku
    Mandzukic
    Lewandowski
    Cavani
    Ibrahimovic
    Neymar
    Messi
    Ronaldo
    Higuain
    Tevez
    Falcao
    Costa
    Vucinic
    Balotelli
    Drogba

    Probably missed a few

Lukaku? For his potential, yes. Right now? Hell no. His first touch is awful and he spends large parts of the game doing nothing. At least Giroud can make up for his terrible finishing with good link up play.

More prem goals than Giroud with worse players supplying him. Don't be biased.

Different supply methode though Cini, the way you play your midfield would fill the area he operates best in and reduce his impact.I think he would have the same problem at Chelsea right now (as would Drogba).

I cannot believe people would actually prefer Giroud to Lukaku. This is Giroud's best ever return for us at the moment and he's still average.

Lukaku is clearly a special player that will be one of the best in the world soon. He has everything in his arsenal to be one of the best strikers in the world. As for Giroud, bless him, he tries hard and is a decent, solid, workhorse of a striker, but is nothing special and won't be a world beater. Playing for us makes him look better than what he is.

Lukaku will be abeast but at the moment he isn't a world beater. Balotelli is a lazy prick who gets sent off and swans around thinking he is the dogs bollocks, no thanks. Drogba is past it and over the course of a season i'd take Giroud all day long. I also think Giroud has more to his all round game than Sturridge despite Sturridge having a good finish on him.

Lots of your players listed are of course better, but not everyone can have a Neymar, Messi or Ronaldo. I get your point about strikers i just think Giroud isn't nearly as bad as you seemed to be suggesting :p

You could throw these into the mix for that list too:

    Hulk
    Lloriente
    Benzema
    Gomez

Not sure that you can. Benzema is having an indifferent season, doesn't look an upgrade on Giroud at all on current form (on checking, they both have 10 goals in 23 apps so far this season, but for me Giroud adds more all round). Same for the others you have mentioned tbh. Gomez has barely made a handful of appearances since his switch to Fiorentina due to injury problems. Llorente only managed 5 goals last season and this season has less goals than Giroud. As for Hulk he has only ever played in sub-par leagues in portugal and russia and even then his goal scoring record last season was about 1in 3, the same as Giroud.

Huge huge *huge* game tonight in my opinion. A win would really send out the message that Arsenal are in it to win it this season. It would also really breathe a ton of confidence and morale into the team.. however a loss could have completely the opposite effect. For me this is a gigantic game. Going to watch the game with the old man tonight and looking forward to a cracking game, really hope Arsene puts one over the special case.

Even if we lose today, Liverpools next two fixtures are City and Chelsea, so we are likely to see one, two or three of our rivals drop points within the next couploe of gmaes, so i think we are likely to still be right in the mix even with a poor result today.

That said i agree about the confidence thing and a win would send us in the right direction for the second half of the season.

Honestly, if we don't win tonight it will be a massive set back. The title will still be in reach but we have to win this for a multitude of reasons: belief, morale, confidence etc.

Any update on whether the game is definitely going ahead? Gale force winds in Kent at the moment, presumably not much better in North London? Wondering if the trains are ok to get people there?

No he really isn't. Drogba is past it. It's been 4-5 years since his last season managing more than 13 goals. He scores less than Giroud. He now plays in Turkey because he isn't good enough for the top leagues anymore. As a back-up striker he's still good enough, but to be the main man at Arsenal? No chance.
