Don't get me wrong, Mike. I totally agree on settling for a point at a time when Bolton looked far more likely to score than us. It is just that taking off two attackers (I refuse to call Stewart a midfielder) and putting on two defenders (CP refuses to consider Evina a midfielder) means that the ball is just given away easily to our opponents to mount a new attack. I think the fact that you have two more bodies in defence who may help out against 50% of attacks is outweighed by the opponents having leisure to mount four times as many attacks. This is especially the case when your one forward left on is rightly called back to defend because of his heading ability. I don't need to say well done to CP for earning a point because I think he is doing a good job all the time, whether we win, lose or draw. The chances of finding anyone who could do better are slim, and the chances of our affording that person are even slimmer.
Disagreeing with a managerial decision isn't the same as calling for his head. I think maybe one or two of our contributors are reluctant to give their balanced views, in case any part of it could be seen as a dig at The Doctor. Match threads used to contain a number of opinions on what we think the team should be. Not now, and I think it's a pity.
Hi everyone Reasonable result yesterday, but a point here and there won't keep us up. I reckon that 3rd relegation spot will be between us, Millwall & Sheffield Wed. We need a win on Boxing Day, getting there is going to be an absolute pain so the least that CP can do is lay on some entertaining football. I still think its 50/50 him being gone by 1st Jan.
That's more like it Vol-au Vent! You're right of course, a point won't keep us up, but we have to turn the tide somewhere, and a point at Bolton, albeit a rather off color Bolton, seems like a good place to start. Now we have to push on from there, hopefully without any hare-brained starting line ups, and a win against Brighton would be a step in the right direction. At least we seemed fairly positive yesterday. Long may it continue!
Hi, I have a signed Charlton shirt from 98-00 (MESH Computers). This shirt is signed by about 15 or so squad members. This would make a great Christmas present. I can sent it special delivery tomorrow (23rd). If interested please see item number 271351110996 on ebay.
Any idea if the jubilee line is running? And buses from North Greenwich? No way to make it otherwise.
Buses definitely running, not sure about Tube. Depending on where you live I am sure a fellow 606er would give you a lift. I would, but I am relying on buses myself.
In Essex for the time being, got to get to Liverpool St, then London Bridge, and that's the easy part. Cheers for your help Nick
I assume you think Yeovil and Barnsley are doomed? Yeovil I agree, but I think Barnsley are in with a chance of survival. On the other hand I think Doncaster and Bournemouth will also end up below Charlton, with us finishing 18th.
