We haven't had an emergency as yet, so who's to say it wouldn't be Yoshida who went on under those circumstances.
Teams usually have two defenders on the bench, we have no one else apart from Fonte and Yoshida. That is why they both were on the bench.
Yes, I agree but then do we need another centre back too? Very few teams have two centre backs on the bench. I guess as Beefy says we have them just in case we need Yosida to play at right back or something.
Yeah, most have a centreback and a fullback on the bench, and we typically have as well when fully healthy...today we just didn't have a fullback available unless plumbing the depths of the youth setup.
Do you mean best English attacking midfielder? Because as much as I am a fan, I can think of a lot of better players than him!
Says on Fantasy Football in the injuries section that he is expected back 26th December. Has said that for a couple of weeks now.
Didn't believe we stood a chance pre match, although that was because I was preparing myself for another defeat considering how hopeless we have been. From an outsider you need Clyne, Shaw, Lovren, Fonte and Boruc. Your team is based around this high pressing game and to have your regular back four all in sync and form, has been what I've been most impressed with and while I know Chambers is rated highly, it doesn't look like you have adequate replacements. Surprised to see Fonte getting dropped, unless he's been injured or at fault? Adebayor is now deciding to play as he has a point to prove, his form may last 3 weeks or 3 months, good for us but unlucky timing for saints! Definitely think you can pick up form soon but you need a lucky break which your just not getting at the moment.
Agree...Spurs matched us in our style. On 1:1 they came out with the ball when we all expected us to. Kept waiting for them to fade because we usually outlast teams, but yet again no. We might still have got away with it if we'd had our usual defence, but no. It's a good thing we have a chance to rectify it in a couple of days...that is a good thing, isn't it.
Morning guys and gals....... Still haven't changed my mind about Gazza.......Sorry he is plain useless.......Whether he will change or not over time is anyone's guess.....On past experience and his own showings he has not learned a thing from last Season! The sooner we can get shot of him the better it will be. I have to agree with CBK on the fitness of players.....if they are fit to be on the bench they are fit enough to be on the field. I will accept that some will have slight knocks and will be benched to be used in an emergency. To my knowledge though Yoshida is not injured in the slightest and surely should be used ahead of Josh. All I can say is that I agree with someone who posted earlier we really should have got more depth of quality players.....not necessarily 21 year olds but some players with experience. Look at all the teams above us.....without exception they all have a decent mix of youth and experience. At the moment we are not balanced in that way. Spurs yesterday out fought us in mid field and used their experience. We played right into their hands crowding out midfield and breaking on the flanks. As others have said Fox was torn a new one....... I said yesterday that I was angry with Pochettino's team selection and the way we played. I haven't changed my mind about that. Losing is not what is making me angry......it is just the way we are losing. I understand the injury problems but I do question why he persists with formations and combinations of players that have failed time and time again. A change of goalkeeper and midfield player should not have the effect it has had. I don't pretend to know what the answer is.......Pochettino is paid to know and at the moment, for now at least he is not earning his wages. You don't go from being one of the tightest defences in Europe to one of the worst over night if the right decisions are being made.
