Because he's an option in an emergency, owing to the fact that he can play, but it's not in the team's interests to have him play unless absolutely necessary, if it could cause whatever injury he is carrying to be aggravated. How bloody difficult is that to comprehend? Fitness is not an on/off switch.
Some would argue today was a case of absolute necessity! Have to admire Lovren's honesty with that tweet.
I would be surprised. In other news, not sure now is the best time for Pochettino to be making jokes about gifting people presents to be honest.
Of course it bloody is. You are either fit to play or you are not. Fonte could have just as much injured himself warming up as he could playing, plus we had Yoshida on the bench anyway. Why have two centre halfs on the bench for a home game???? (in fact, any game). Might has well have had two keepers on the bench!
That's not a joke...that is him fuming. Tottenham deserved the win by their play, but we would still have got away with it if we had defended half decently. They closed us down the way that we normally do...we were too slow (not something we are usually accused of). Chambers impressed me, as did Lallana. Glad that Lambert got a goal from open play, but doubt that means much to him. Need to get something from the Cardiff game...let's hope Fonte and Shaw are back by then and no one else gets Shaw's infection.
This is not how chronic inflammatory injuries work. We had two CBs on the bench in order to have two defenders on the bench, as we have no other senior team defenders healthy at the moment.
What is Prowse had replaced a midfielder and Cork had gone of injured? You need more then a few solutions to what happens in a game. Our squad is so thin we have to have a injured player on the bench.
But we had a player on the bench who couldn't play (or if he could, then we needed the air ambulance hovering overhead just in case). So that's a waste of a substitute spot.
We have no one else tho, they are either injured or with the under 21's and not deemed as ready just yet.
He wouldn't be on the bench if he couldn't play. That's my take on it. He should have been starting or not been on the bench at all. Yoshida was already on the bench. You don't need two ****ing centre backs on the bench.
I think the number of "what ifs" won't mask the fact that the manager is doing some ****ing weird things at the moment.
We have no more defensive back up tho. Look at most teams benches they have two defenders, the only two defenders we have is Yoshida and Fonte.
I agree on the Cork sub(unless he went of injured as well ) but the rest I can't. It's more a case of our squad is getting found out badly by injuries, even Morgan didn't look fit.
I don't disagree, but the players and staff have to be professional and not make light of a humiliating defeat. I hope you're right, I admit I haven't seen the context of those words.
