QED. Rickie wasn't firing on all cylinders today and we simply couldn't create. Amongst a dozen other problems, of course. Vin
You shouldn't undergo physical exercise when carrying an infection, firstly because you wouldn't be at your best and secondly because you can exacerbate your illness. This was neither a cup final nor the last game of the season with us trying to avoid relegation...not worth the risk of having him out for longer.
So, that's 6 visits to St Marys without a win (1D 5L) for me since we beat Crystal Palace 2-0 on Boxing Day 11. I'm still yet to see this Southampton team that have done so well on countless occasions since then actually turn up when I do... Perhaps someone should have taken Frans advice and shot me before the game, or perhaps they should have aimed that gun at Hooiveld instead... So frustrated that I've come home and poured out the Whisky straight away, Hooiveld and Gazza cost us the game today in my opinion. Gazza actually got a way with his super glued to the line party trick multiple times today (although from the other side of the ground he probably should have got to the first?) but the defence have absolutely no confidence in him and that leads to more mistakes. I'm not sure if Boruc would have conceded any of those goals... Fox's positioning was poor, so many times I saw him no where near the man he was supposed to be marking, but it was actually one his better performances in my recent memory... The person I feel sorry in our defence was the only one who was our first choice today, Lovren. He really is another level, I think he could play for pretty much any team in the world with the form he is in, tackles, positioning, interceptions, headed clearances... the lot. What a player. We can't play Gazza again, it has to be Cropper against Cardiff if Davies isn't back. Oh Boruc, we miss you
Poch on Solent: "We dressed up as Santa Claus and gifted them presents" On Fonte, Shaw & Osvaldo not playing "Each of them has different issues going on" "We will work hard to regain our defensive solidity"
I suppose that I'm just struggling with the notion that there are a few steps below the current level of Gazzaniga. Does he have arms? Both legs?
he was on the ****ing bench. He was running up and down the touchline for most of the second half. Sprinting hard & doing touch turns.
Chambers played well. Sad that he's getting sod all help from the more experienced defenders around him.
Didn't mean worse as in unable to play etc, I mean worse as in not going away anytime soon. Some injuries you can warm up etc.
Have to disagree. Lovren was also fantastic; he covered half a dozen defensive errors in his totally capable and understated style. Vin
Hmm maybe. He can play 45 minutes if he has too, but maybe only with an injection. Could be requiring an op, but waiting until January to bring in another CB? Pure conjecture of course but the way our luck is with injuries in the last couple of months it wouldn't surprise me.
All things that would be possible if he has a chronic issue like tendinitis in his knee, while still making it difficult for him to complete 90 minutes without causing further aggravation.
He never had it in the first place... He did seem to gain it in the last 10/15 minutes though, too late by then.
Then why is he a substitute? Totally possible that Hoovield & Lovren could have been injured in the first 15 minutes. If that had happened, are you saying that Poch wouldn't have put him on? If not, THEN WHY HAVE HIM ON THE BENCH?!?
"Dejan Lovren ‏@DejanLovren05 5m I am so sorry l don't now what to say... Feeling sh**t" It's okay Dejan, I still love you.
