They're creating chances for fun now. Could be 6 or 7 by the end. I've been one of the biggest advocates of giving Gazzaniga a chance, but he's been extremely slow off his line and a worrying number of shots are just going straight through him. I thought shot-stopping was the one thing he was good at? Hooiveld is having a nightmare. I'm afraid it might be time up for him, he's had too many chances to prove himself at this level and is just too inconsistent.
Seems like a lovely human being, but he's laughably inept at this level. Consider that it felt like a victory when he was only directly responsible for one goal against Newcastle.
Well he does keep saying he's happy with the squad and isn't looking to add to it. If that's true (which it may well not be), he is culpable.
I have to believe that he's simply saying that for morale purposes. We cannot exit the transfer window without defensive reinforcements, if we have ambitions beyond a dogfight for a top half position.
Backup? Two of them are starters right now! Yoshida was better than Fonte and Hooiveld last season, I'm not sure quite what's happened to him.
